Yes, I have rarely gone over 100MB/month and now I have used 200 MB in a couple of days.

Same here. I have typically been right around a gig per month since getting my iPhone 4 in January.

I have used 689 Meg since upgrading.

Some of that I will surely attribute to me playing with the phone more kicking the tires of the new OS, but it has got be me more than that.

I have turned off Cellular Data for large portions of the day until I get a bit further into my billing cycle and/or I get a handle on how and why it's happening (so basically for large portions of the day I have an iPod touch that can make phone calls).

I have gone into the iCloud settings and turned off "Use Cellular" for Documents and Data and have turned off Photo Stream to help stem the tide. Too early to tell (especially since I have gone and turned off Cellular Data altogether for large portions of the day).

I have just recieved a text from my service provider saying I have reached my 1 GB of data in just 7 days.

I have no been doing anything different just upgraded to iOS 5. I'm either going to have to downgrade or boost my data. Still it was sucking my data dry! Its all iMessage and notification center.

YES! I've been having the same problems. Cellular data usage is through the roof, even with it and 3G set to "OFF" in my settings! Also, my iPhone 4 loses battery power at a greatly accelerated rate. Before iOS5 I could usually take it off the charger in the morning, take it to work, using it occassionally to check facebook and make a call or two, use a couple of apps, and come home before I needed to charge it again.

I am the same full charge, same every day usage at work and I maxed my data for the month.

Something seems a little off. I never push any emails nothing, full unterstand my phone and its settings. So this morning I cleared my Celluar Network Data (turned on my Ceullar data - but no location services/no push notifications/no imessage) and I have not been online yet... I'm gonna try to stay offline and to see where my data is at.

I honesty think its iCloud/iMessage (consently online to message)/ Notification Center (pushing emails & weather)

We might just need to get used to it!

Lets just be happy we found this all now and not on our next cell phone bill...

i turned off Find My iPhone and its improved the data usage and battery. im guessing its because it pings iCloud every couple of minutes. I guess it would be best to only turn it on when you're away from work or home in case you do lose it.

I Too Have Had ISSUES With ios 5!!  But might have a temporary fix...

I downloaded ios 5 for my iPhone 4 (not 4s) Sunday nite –last day in billing cycle for phone was Tuesday and I received the txt that I had used 65% of my 200mb plan…That Has NEVER Happened!

Between Wednesday and Tuesday evening I had used 5mb not even using the data plan.  I’ve been searching forums and this is a huge problem especially for people who do not check their data and then they find out they’ve gone over! I did not find anything that would fix it so I started messing with the phone.  I turned off ALL notifications – removed icloud (or deleted the account) but the data kept racking up!  What I ultimately ended up doing (and it Seems to be a temp fix) I turn on my wifi even if there isn’t one to connect to– leave the cellular data ON…this Stopped the data from increasing!! One twist is – if you do get to a hot spot with wifi available (such as home) TURN OFF THE CELLULAR DATA!  When I arrived home yesterday after discovering the fix I checked my data for the 20th time and it was going up again…so I turned OFF the cellular data and once again it stopped!  I tested this with a friends iphone and he did not have to turn off the cell data when in a hot spot so I’m not sure if that varies with different models – I have the 4 and he has the 3…So give it a shot!! I hope this at least helps some people because this can be a COSTLY Problem!!

Yes, this is a HUGE problem. I did a garden variety install of IOS5, and accepted the default parameters (or so I though). Under iCloud -> Documents & Data -> Use Cellular (was on). I saw my usage this morning and it was 4GB in 7 days! Normally, I use only 20MB per month. I am not on a data plan, so my cost is $5/1MB. I can't believe this, but it looks like I may have a $20,000.00 phone bill.

Yes, data usage is WAY up.  This must be something Apple will fix, right?  I got the 65% text from AT&T this morning.  I have the 200 MB plan and I have rarely even come close to the limit before.  I just turned cellular data off, but I don't want to have to do that permanently.

DELETE / SIGN OFF from iCLOUD on your iPhones. Seems there is a bug in the iCloud which keeps sending and receiving data on the 3G cellular connection.

AGAIN!  DELETE / SIGN OFF from iCLOUD on your iPhones and save on your 3G data and battery drain.

I agree with powerguru.  I noticed my battery life was shortened, but whats more concerning is the fact that my usual data usage has gone from an average of 120MB a month, every month, for the past year.  My data usage since upgrading 3 weeks ago was 1.5GB (yes, 1500MB), and this was confirmed by my network provider O2, who were even shocked at the dramatic change.

I hope Apple do address this, as iCloud is pointless if it will create huge data usage bills.

    Same here on data usage.

Normal months I have at least 200-300 mb of data left (1 GB monthly in talk plan) even with me allowing my ipad to use the personal hotspot option when out!!

Since ios 5 install daya through the roof and already charged an extra £10 lat month on data use from operator.

Not even half way through the month I'm down to my last drips of data usage already.... I've just turned off everything to do with iCloud to see if that helps. Not happy :-(

    Whitey.
