Q: Credit Card is Declined

I've been having a problem for the past few days. Every time I try to make a purchase, my credit card is declined. I have used this credit card for purchases for years. I spoke to my bank and there is no reason for the card to be declined. I have tried using other cards and even Pay Pal. Itunes is declining all methods of payment for my account. I sent in an inquiry using itunes support and have heard nothing. Is there a number to call to solve this?

    Fixed this problem - AT LAST

    after numerous emails to the Apple customer support team I gave up as they keep blaming my bank - but the transactions are not being declined.

    The problem started when I moved home and changed the address.

    My address, on my bank statement, says Firstname Secondname, which is what I have always had in the address field for Apple.

    I noticed that my credit card says firstinitial , secondinitial - in my case G M

    I changed the Apple ID to match this - and IT WORKS!

    * My earlier Posts were deleted because they did not express 'technical' issues, a pity because they would have placed what follows in a context which would have made the solution more generic.

    'CREDIT CARD DECLINED ISSUE' SOLUTION

    Good news, I sorted it all out!

    Step 1.

    1) Chose 'None' as a payment option, and saved; and,

    2) Filled in details again, being careful to: i) add BankAccount Number 'without spaces'; ii) change phone prefix from two to threenumbers; and, iii) adding in 3-digit secret bank code, and saved.

    Step 2.

    Specifically in relation to 'National Geographic' ...

    1) Changed from an annual subscription to buying just one issue from the previously downloaded 'Sampler';

    2) Chose 'Buy', entered 'Apple Id' password, and it was accepted;

    3) Then could not download the 'one' copy of 'National Geographic' I'd just bought(!), but it advised me to restart  'the app' and download again;

    4) this confused me as the 'Sampler' was on the bookshelf which can't be deleted, till I worked out that you can set the 'Sampler' to have a wobble and 'x' on it so it can be deleted. Deleted the 'Sampler' then re-downloaded/installed  'the Sampler' from Apple Store before finding and hitting the already-purchased-particular-issue's 'download' button to get it, in full, SUCCESSFULLY!

    Martin.

    I had this exact same problem today.  What resolved it for me was going to apple.ca (I live in Canada) instead of iTunes and putting in a different credit card number there.  It automatically sent the data to iTunes and I now have full functionality in iTunes back.

    Hope this helps you.

    Not true Jon - my wife called and bugged just like you did several times and sent their forms and everything they requested and we are both shut out.  A good business practicve would be to fix this internally so we don't have to have this craptastic negative customer experience rather than submitting to the "reality distortion field" that is Apple Customer Service.

    Are you saying they didn't give you any solution at all?  My case is different in a way.  Some days I tunes store allows me to buy anything, another day they take me to review my credit card info and ask me to add the code of my credit card and after that it shows that the code is incorrect and there is no way they change that.  Of course I have no idea how to communicate with them and it seems to me absurd that a huge company like this doesn't have a solution for the thousand of people with the same problem.

    Then, what are you going to do?

    Angelvavallr, I should update a little.  I wrote their customer service and told them what I was experienceing as a military member stationed overseas and what several of my peers were also experiencing to include my spouse.  I got really lucky and received help from someone very fluent in Apple billing procedures and within 24 hours my account was functioning normal again.  The same cannot be said for my wife - she received a partial restoration of purchasing power but only by paying via PayPal which has extra fees added on top everytime you use their service in conjuntion with an Apple puirchase.  I'll declare that I think we received a 45% solution as a family.  Since Apple does not have a customer call line (all their service is via e-mail customer help and sometimes you're dealing with an overseas online help center equivalent to calling Bangalore for tech support on your computer), it's a crap shoot on whether or not you'll get resolution.  My personal view - keep inundating their help line until you get resolution or threaten to go viral on them by filing a a CNN iReport (which is what I threatened to do and would have done on behalf of my fellow service members experiencing the same issue).  Hope this answered your question.

    It`s quite nice to see that I`m not alone...I`ve bought an Iphone 4s about 2 months ago...and none of my credit cards are accepted therefore I can`t use nothing from Apple stuff. Which means I`ve spent a lots a money for nothing from a company which have the guts to say there are the best in this field!

    And of course it`s not their fault it`s the bank fault, and thats it! ...no checkings, no nothing - beside some pretty stupid copy/paste messages which they inform it`s not their fault...and it`s better to check again if my data are according with US rules and check again with my bank! ***??? They even don`t check if I`m from US or another country, not to say that for almoust 2 months I`ve exchange e-mails with them and they don`t even read it careful, or inform someone in charge capable to give a real and reliable explanation or a solution!

    And the best part is that, in order to create my apple account, I`ve use my syster credit card and guess what? her card works! me and my syster are both clients to the same bank and we check and re-check all the options that we have from the bank regarding our account and credit cards and are the same! the only difference is that her card is accepted, mine don`t! And I have the same problem with my second card which is emit by another bank and that also is 100% eligible. I`ve use my cards everywhere whitout any problmes including to create my Android account, I`ve use both cards inside and outside my country succesfuly, on-line and in the classic stores for years! And it`s still not their problem!!!

    In the end the problem is simple...they are satisfied `cause I already both their product ...I`m loosing my money for nothing!

    So...the solution is to go back to the green robot !!! Have fun all of you...and keep the faith !!! maybe they will fix the problem! But me, I`m very dissapointed by Apple!

    30 March 2012

    "Your payment method was declined.  Please enter valid payment method information."

    Tried 2 cards, both 100% valid.  e-mailed Apple, got the stock reply, basically "it'snot us it's you".  I have had my iTunes account with the same associated card for years.  I have tried every permutation of my name and address info, all to no avail.

    Guess I'll have to try e-mailing Apple again, hopefully they'll be more helpful the second time?

    VERY frustrating!

    Hi i purchased an ipod for my daughter and a $30 itune credit everything was working fine until a sudden message that the account has somehow declined. well after reading all of the post everyone had i took notes and i found out after itune credit was gone the charge went to my debit card i gave when i opened my appleid, but because no money was there and you have to enter the security 3 digit code before it can charge it to your account again. s0 this is how i found out how to fix it.

    step 1: by using a pc log into your itune account that has the same appleid log in details.

    step 2: click on your user name on the top right and go to account info

    step 3: scroll down and click on purchase history, this will give you a list of all the apps you have downloaded and that you have been charge for. in red it will tell you what and if you owed them money.

    step 4: now if there is amount owing until this is paid your account will not let you download anything even if it's a free app.

    step 5: when it is paid or owing balance is gone you can now and SHOULD update the credit card details

    step 6: the pictured boxes of the types of card please click on none. this will delete your card detail

    " NOW IF I WERE YOU TO AVOID THIS FROM EVER HAPPENING JUST GET AN ITUNE CARD AND STICK TO USING THAT"

    I really hope this helped everyone because i know how frustrating it was.
