Since upgrading to ios 5 on my 3gs I get blurry text on many webpages in Safari?? Anyone know why? For example when opening apples page on imessage, half the page is so blurry I cant even read it, even when zooming?

iPhone 3GS, iOS 5

Go to multi tasking and close some of your running apps

Thanks Avik! That seemed to do the trick... Low on memory I guess??

Never had the issue before ios 5 so I got a bit confused...

Thought it might be some new function or other...

That does do the trick, but why is it happening? I've authored several html5 web apps that suddenly are displaying this blurry text sporadically -- and although quitting out of backgrounded apps does fix the problem, I had no issue with these pages in ios4, with the same number of apps running in the background. Is this an acknowledged bug?

Sneufeld: Good question. I never had the problem with ios 4 either. And I could have anything up to like 30 apps running in the background sometimes.

Running iOS5 on iPhone4 - I also get the blurry text on certain web pages.  I thought it may be related to Flash rendering on those pages (3Gs issue), but now wonder if there is a Safari memory management issue - optimized for iPhone4s, not for 4/3Gs - a planned/forced obsolescence?

It doesn't have anything to do with Flash, that stuff just gets ignored. And I doubt it is forced obsolescence, since it is happening on my iPad 2...

I just noticed this issue on my website.  It only happens when you zoom in/out.  The whole zooming process is not smooth like it should be, it almost seems like the whole page is being reloaded when I zoom in/out.  Hapens for everything I know with iOS5 on my website, whenter they're using iPhone3GS, 4, 4S, or iPad2.

I have code on the website that scales the background based on your resolution and I'm almost positive that's the reason.  The code is right, and it worked on old iOS and every other browser til now.  I'm pretty mad that iOS5 broke it.

Here's the site if you want to test it (it's WoW guild website): www.keineneuen.com

    Any ideas?

This is different than the issue we are reporting... This looks more like a rendering issue with regards to the objects on top of the background -- it isn't the blurry text issue.  You might want to try checking out the CSS option for backface and perspective --

    -webkit-backface-visibility:none; and -webkit-perspective:1000;

Try these on things that are flickering, might help.

The same thing is happening to my iPad and my iPhone 4, running ios5.  It had never happened with ios4.

This bug must be fixed soon.

I've tried. I have closed all the running apps but Safari. The problem doesn't appear so often, but definitely, it does. Some pages are so blurry that they can't be read. I think it is a major bug that needs to be fixed soon. It had never happened to me whit iOS4.

I "solved" the problem baby rebooting my iPad this is beginning to feel more like Microsoft every day

Ksgordon -- an easier approach that has been working for me is to open the multitasker and kill a couple of apps running there. Then refresh your web page. Works all the time, but still, annoying and should definitely be fixed.  I can't tell clients who use my software to do this.

I've also noticed this.  Closing the background apps did fix this.  Is this a know issue or anything with the apple development team?  Some kind of memory management bug?
