I tried using the find my mac feature, I used "remote lock" and locked my mac.

I purposely set the Mac to use code 000 000 so I know I wouldn't forget it, but it keeps saying the passcode is incorrect.

When its on the PIN entry screen, I can use Find My Mac again in my iPhone or online to lock it with a new passcode, and the message I set on the lock page will appear on my locked mac, but it doesn't accept the PIN at all...

I've set it to 000000 again and again to ensure but it just doesn't accept it.

I've wiped my hard drive and tried to clean install but the Lion installer checks with the server before installing I guess so it won'r let me, or it's in the Firmware.

It's really confusing and I don't know what to do. AppleCare were stuck and couldn't help me,

Hope someone knows the answer

    Using any beta software?

Apparently it's easy to thwart by simply resetting the PRAM...google is your friend.

To fix it, it's really simple

To reset it, all I had to do was boot up the computer holding CMD + ALT + P + R and wait until the computer had rebooted twice.

I'm trying to do that but another lockscreen appears with just a padlock and an input box.

I would be most grateful if you could help me, my Mac is locked.

Turn off your computer, by holding down the power button,

then, turn it back on, VERY QUICKLY, press down CMD, ALT, P and R

Keep holding it, you'll hear the start up sound play TWICE if you keep holding it for a while, then it's all done

    Thanks for your reply.

When I try to do that it goes straight into a gray screen with a lock and a box different than the one which asks for the 6 digits.

then you're not correctly holding they keys, that method CANNOT fail, unless it's not being done properly

Hold down ALL of the keys BEFORE you turn it on, you may not have enough fingers to do it, so maybe ask for help, it will work

I think I'm doing it right.

Just to be clear, these are the keys right?

As it seems, that wasn't working because I had an EFI password.

I was finally able to do it after removing a memory card.

    Thanks for your help.

I really wanted to see this before I have to use it, so I locked my Mac Mini from my MacBook.  After the reboot all I saw was a blinking grey folder with a ? mark inside.

Resetting the PRAM didn't work - same blinking folder.  So I tried booting off an external firewire disk that I keep around for emergencies and powered up with option key for alternate boot.

Initially, I got the lock password and entered that.  The mini continued, but rather than seeing my normal system disk, I saw a disk labeled EFI, the recovery partition, and my external drive and recovery partitions.  I selected the EFI as the boot device and continued.

I got another lock screen and entered my same lock code.  Everything is now back to normal.

A little scary but a nice feature.
