When using the latest version of ituens with iOS 5 and enabling Wi Fi Sync, it syncs fine, but even after ejecting, itunes keeps opening. Also if you elect to backup to the cloud can you still backup to your local pc, when your phone is plugged in via USB?

Cheers

The exact same thing is happening to me. The only way I found to resolve it is to untick wifi sync in iTunes which defeats the purpose of being able to wifi sync. My wife was the one who warned me of it when it kept interrupting her games. Anyone have a solution?

I should have added to my post above, what I did was keep itunes minimized to the system tray. That way it doesn't pop up all the time. So mine is set to sync over wifi, but I also ticked minimize to tray in itunes. That way it's always ready to sync.

I don't really care for that because I never use itunes except to sync with cord in the past, so it was never opened and using memory on my pc. But now with IOS 5 iTunes needs to be running in order for you device to sync over wifi. So it'll need to sit in the system tray using memory on the pc if you want to wifi sync.

Snap... we are having the same problem, I cured it only by turning off the wi-fi sync in i-tunes,  I asume the correct way is to leave it running in system tray, and lose more memory... still at least it dosnt keep running now  :-)

Also having this error.  Even minimizing didn't work as it starts popping up in the middle of things if it loses track of my phone.  Had to turn off WiFi Sync.

Rebooting the phone seems to work.

That didn't work for me.  Closed out of iTunes, then rebooted the phone.  iTunes popped back up as soon as the phone restarted.

Im Disabling wifi sync. Disappointing, I loved the feature in concept. ITunes Running all the time is not a solution that works for me.

If you uncheck the "Open iTunes when this <iPhone> is connected" box under the Options section (on the Summary page of your iOS device), iTunes shouldn't keep opening.

    +1

Just remember to eject the device from iTunes.

I don't see it as as a big deal that you have to open iTunes manually just before you press the button to sync. Beats having to plug it in all the time and having to continuously stop the back up procedure whenever it is connected to download a few tracks.

    Peace

Unchecking the "Open iTunes when connected" doesn't seem to help.

Ejecting it helps for a bit and then it opens iTunes again a few minutes later.

    Any other ideas?

I've been having the same problem since a few days ago. I'm sure I didn't change any setting in my Mac, BUT updating to Lion 10.7.2.

So I guess something is bad after 10.7.2 update, wich is the only chage I can think about.

I DO HAVE iTunes sync already switched off and I also switched wifi sync off in my iPad. I never chaged settings in my Mac neither in my iPad. But iTunes still keeps launching itself.
