Q: Storage almost Full message appearing constantly on my iPhone 4

Yes may be a stupid question BUT i can't find this anywhere online. So I need a bit of help on this.

I get a pop-up on the screen every so often ...

Storage almost Full message appearing constantly on my iPhone 4 only AFTER updating to iOS5. After update iOS5 seems to have stolen nearly a BIG chunk of my iPhone's memory/storage for itself, so had to remove a number of apps to give myself at least 700mb free. Message pop-up still appears. I then removed yet more apps - note that with the old iOS4's I never had this issue & all the apps I was removing now worked perfectly fine on the phone!

Then had over 2gb free & yet I was STILL getting the message. My iCloud is 100% free (ie 5gb available). Storage in settings/useage shows up as 2gb+ free.

So what's going on???

The pop-up states: "Storage Almost Full you can manage your storage in Settings."

Dell PC, Windows 7, 64 Bit

If you have photos stored on your iPhone, deleting the photo cache can free up storage space.

I started having the same issue this week

    .

Was somehow at 0 space left on my iPhone4 (with iOS5) and got the message.

That was fine, I deleted some unused apps and made approx 500mb of space.

Still was getting the message, so I deleted more. Now I have almost a GB free and am still getting the message quite frequently.

I shut off the iPhone are rebooted hoping that would clear it out, but it still continues.

I have no video installed, few photos and mainly apps and music because I lost everything when I updated to iOS5 and reinstalled from a fresh format.

So it's pretty clean considering I've had it a year...

Why can't I simply check "Ok, Understood ~ don't remind me anymore!"

1GB should be PLENTY of free space to not receive the message every 20 minutes or so.

    Grrr..

I, too, just started having this issue yesterday. My iPhone 4 shows 1.3GB free but I'm getting this Storage almost full message very frequently.

Interesting that it didn't show up for a week after the iOS 5 upgrade. I haven't added anything to the phone in at least 3 days since I've been out of town.

When I get home I plan on syncing and doing a full restore. I hope that will fix this.

Add another one to this list - my free space seems to fluctuate between 1 and almost 3 GB free without doing anything. The phone (iPhone 4 w/ iOS 5) has become sluggish even after closing all apps and turning off/on.

::Update:: I have 2.7 GB free, yet I still recive the message.

    I'm confused.

This is a continuation to my previous post...

Yesterday it drove me crazy with the prompt... Storage space is low etc.. Every chance it had it popped up.

Overnight it cleared up with no action of my own.

Today, it hasn't came up once.

    Hoping it's all clear now.

An update on my situation. Almost immediately after I posted this yesterday, I stopped receiving the message and the sluggishness went away.

I have yet to receive the message, or experience any sluggishness since.

I just got this message today. So I hooked my iPhone up to my mac and it said I have 8.3 GB left. I don't understand what's going on! 8.3 GBs is a lot of room left, right?

I'm wondering if this will ever be sorted? Don't have the problem on my 4s only seem to be getting it on my 4 after the iOS5 update. Now have over 2gb free still get the msg.

Can't find anywhere online informing me how to resolve this issue, i presume a complete factory reset then re-install each app 1 at 1 time should work but that's going to take hours. NOT happy with Apple for not informing its users that this could be a problem with the iOS5 update.

Is it possible to go back to the old iOS4 as I'd rather have a working iPhone that a phone which periodically brings up the pop-up box of low storage?

My issues cleared up on it's own....

Now one thing I did do however was download a few more apps. I figured, if I am getting this message anyway, why not download some new stuff to fill up the extra space I had made, right?

It may have been coincidence that my issue resolved itself after I added a few new apps - but go pick out something free on the store and see if it helps you too.

    Worth a shot.

Solution......do a complete restore from backup. Worked for me. I noticed I had no room left all of a sudden. Hooked my iphone to my mac and saw that "other" had taken all my remaining space. After restoreing I got back 4gigs of space taken by "other".

I suspect that this problem cleared up on its own and not because of anything I did.  The day after I started seeing this problem, I disabled all iCloud syncing (backup, docs, apps, everything).  After that, I didn't see the message again.  In the last week, I have re-enabled all the iCloud options that I turned off with the exception of iCloud Backup.  I will enable that today and see if the problem comes back.  I don't really think any of this had a real affect, but maybe it will help someone if they are still seeing this message.
