Not over the air. I believe iCloud access on an iOS device requires iOS 5 or later which is not supported with the 3G.

There are servers to configure it manually, I have tried without success.
The strange thing is that I can not do it with the normal cable connection annymore.

This is a joke surely...
We are forced into migrating to this non-working thing called iCloud from this nice thing that worked called MobileMe.
icloud takes all my contacts, and puts them safe and erases them from my phone.
And because I have the cheek to stay with my old iphone3g, I cannot load them back?
(Yes, I am a cheapskate, I saved my money to buy a 27"iMac!).
Very very very dissapointing - I am really hacked off.
I wasted the best part of 2 hours messing about with the iphone and this ruddy forum trying to work out what I am doing wrong - only to find that it has been designed this way.
Very Very Very Shabby.
