I've been trying to get Lion on my aluminum MacBook (2 GH core 2 duo) and have been stimied by kernel panics. I've tried upgrading from 10.6.8 and clean install; I've repaired the disk, repaired permissions, reset PRAM, tried the Kyahx kext utility, reinstalling from Restore (involves redownloading Lion on slow DSL!!) and tried a Lion install DVD that I made. Now going nuts.

The panics occur as Lion is installing. It gets to "1 minute remaining" and I get the "You need to restart your computer" message box. Odd thing is that it will start up in safe mode (holding Shift while starting) in Lion, but then on restart it tries to Install and then panics at the 1 minute mark. I did get it running when I used a Time Machine backup from my new iMac, but that setup had frequent Kernel panics.

Last winter I upgraded with Kingston memory and a Seagate Momentus 500 XT (with the HDD cache) hard drive and haven't had any other issues with those.

Any thoughts?
