I have exactly the same issue, it was driving me round the bend.. and guess what I have a 2011 Volvo S60 too!.. I have submitted the issue to Apple as suggested and I hope we can get this sorted soon!.. its a pitty the new bluetooth profile doesnt support the same as IPOD dock as its nice just to leave the phone in my pocket and then seach my songs but hey ho ! maybe one day. I did think of getting a USB hard drive and just sticking all my songs on that and leaving it in the car....

On a seperate note and slightly off topic, does any of you Volvo S60 drivers have any issues with your drivers window 'rattling?' my car has now been back to the dealers 5 times due to this .. the door panels have been replaced but still it does it.. Its ok for a few weeks then starts again!... mine is the R-design with stiffer suspension but I still dont expect it from any car!... sorry for off topic just interested if anyone else has any issues.... thanks again James UK (

Sorry about the rattling windows, James. No issues with my 2012 S60. Be sure to give your feedback to Apple on the Bluetooth issue.

Having same issue!  IOS5 bug to be sure, although I have had the Bluetooth/USB audio dropout after receiving a phone call. Now after one minute no audio. I sent a message to the apple feedback page. Does anyone know if there is a fix, will it be downloaded with the dealer or would it be a user/iPhone upgrade/fix?

Hi, At the momment im just using bluetooth !.. so I now have the song titles and names on the screen, but the expensive IPOD connector in my car is totally useless!... I can charge the phone but thats it unless you totally turn bluetooth off (but then cant use handsfree as it doesnt work through the ipod connector) guess we just have to either wait for a fix or download that app which is still to this date not up-dated for IOS5) ... If you have the same issue we must make apple aware as the other users have said. I presume there will be a 5.0.1 version in the coming weeks and hopefully it will have this bug ironed out at it must be effecting other car owners (but seems to be only Volvo S60 and XC at the mo) Its good to see we are all here in one place though.

    Same here.

Worked like a charm in my V50 Drive until I updated to IOS5.

Now the car doesn't recognize the phone at all...

I usually listen to my iPod when in my Prius and erroneously attributed this problem to the (enhanced under ios5) bluetooth interface.  The identical problem occurs when my iPod is connected to my home stereo system via the audio output jack.  Sorry I posted misinformation here.

the problem exists also in my Volvo V60 from 2011 - and as I read it also exists in MY2012 Land Rover Discovery with new audio systems.

A2DPblocker is hanging with my iPhone 4 and iOS 5, so I am using bluetooth instead.

When I read here that Volkswagen Passat, Volvo Sensus, Toyota Prius and Land Rover are affected I think it ist clear to say, that it is an Apple problem!

    Apple - please fix.

    Greetings from Germany

The problem with the bluetooth connection to my Prius was created by a bad upgrade to ios 5.  Eventually I discovered my music would hang, and sometime even the artwork would be incorrect even when my iPod was connected to my home stereo using an audio cable.  You may want to try that.  In another thread concerning the music hanging up several reported success by resetting their ipod and then restoring their latest backup using the reset option in iTunes.  I tried that and it solved my problem.

We also have a 2011 Volvo S60 and both have iPhone 4 with iOS 5 installed. The bug we find with streaming music over Bluetooth is that there is no way to navigate your music library from the car's system - only the current playing song displays. When my wife first paired her phone we briefly saw an album or artist list, but have not been able to view it since. I paired my phone as well, and the same problem persists. It works fine if you control the Music app from the phone or you can skip forward or back one track at a time from the car's controls, but that's it. The phone's address book displays in the car just fine.

Apple and Volvo need to get their collective heads together on this because it's a fantastic in car system (when it works!)

    Hi samstick,

the original problem is: Using USB as audio source and having a bluetooth connection for the telephone at the same time. Here iOS switches the audio source to bluetooth after short time, so USB/dock connection (WITH playlists ) is unusable.

I downloaded A2DPBlocker and the problem with it is that it essentially turns your iPhone into a standalone iPod. If you need to go to the root of the IOS and use any other app (e.g. Mail, Messages, Phone) the music stops and your iPod app stops functioning; when you're through using the other app, you may return to the A2DPBlocker app and resume playing music. The good news is that it permits you to play music continuously; the bad news is that your phone is essentially crippled. Also, if you forget to turn off the app, all of the sound settings on your phone become erratic and limited (e.g. alarms, incoming phone calls, etc.)

This is a kluge at best, and based on other postings, it appears that Apple is working on a fix.

2011 Volvo XC60 and iphone 4 with ios 5.0...same issue. The iphone stops playing music via the dock connector after about one minute. No issues before the ios 5.0 upgrade. Apple, please fix!

I too am having a problem with my 2011 XC60 SE since updating my Iphone 4 software to IOS5. when I connect using the dock connector after 20 - 30 seconds it switches from Dock Connector back to My Car, I spoke to apple today they said contact Volvo, i spoke to Volvo they said speak to Apple after speaking to them twice today one support person suggested I restore the phone, which I did it didn't fix the problems so save your time and energy. as the car is only 5 months old i'm tempted to contact Volvo and get them to replace the Dock unit as faulty.
