I saw the pictures on the app store and thought maybe I could play Modern Combat 3 on the TV but I wasn't sure if it was only the iPhone 4S.  I know that there are other games for the older iPod models that play on the TV.  Also, is it only with Apple TV, or is it with an HDMI or composite cable?

I looked at the description of the app and I see nothing that says it supports TV out.  The iPOd 2 and iPhone 4S support mirrorring of he devices screen on VGA or digital AV.  For iPOds, TV out only work if the app supports TV out.

    No.

The only way to play games like that decently on a HDTV is to use a XBox or a Playstation 3 and it's a real 3D world you can run around in, not follow some movie and shoot at a few targets.

The game's 6.99 instead of 60 like Call of Duty so I like it.  Plus, can you take your game with you wherever you want?  Gaming is not going to be stuck to consoles anymore. Apple is making this a reality with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.  I didn't really think that I could be played on the TV with my iPod touch but oh well.  The game is sweet though.  I have it.  The graphics are just as good as Modern Warfare's 3 year old graphics.  You don't know what you're missing out on ds store.  Trust me it's not just following some movie and shooting a few targets!  And no I'm not just some kid on here either.  I have had people think that before.

Once you play it through your $7 is gone, like a movie rental, watch once and it's gone in a few hours.

At least with $60, I can play for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, for a entire year against other people in different maps, around the world 24/7 and always have a lot of fun.

Cost of gameplay $1.16 per hour for 6 hours on your game and $.02 a hour on the $60 game.

Cheaper is not always a better value, I could spend my time in a bar, but that would cost about $5-$10 a hour plus tips.

No I can't. That's the advantage you have with a small, less powerful device, on the other hand I can drive a 1080i HDTV with full 3D graphics and you can't.

Gaming is not going to be stuck to consoles anymore.

3D Gaming is only getting stronger on consoles because of it's powerful dedicated aspect and lower prices, in fact a PS3 is likely around the same price as a iPod touch, Apple is even considering discontinuing it's MacPro like due to lack of sales.

Both devices have different uses, one portable and the other not and more powerful, both are not going anywhere.

Apple is making this a reality with the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S.

Apple is stuck at a dual core atom like processor, they can't make games any better than what you see now.

More cores and more game details require heftier processors, more battery and more cooling which can't be delivered in the iPod/iPad form factor.

The only room for 3D game expansion is consoles, and perhaps Windows towers where there is no power, heat or cooling issues.

However consoles are cheaper and plentiful, affordable to more people.

Soon the graphics quality of iPhones and iPod Touches are going to disgust people with their low image quality as their expectations rise.

You don't know what you're missing out on ds store.  Trust me it's not just following some movie and shooting a few targets!  And no I'm not just some kid on here either.  I have had people think that before.

I've seen the videos of MW3 on YouTube, it's simply no comparison to a PS3 or Call of Duty on a tower.

I have no need to take games with me, it's embarrasing as it is that I play them in private, but it's very cheap entertainment during this bad economy.

FYI, MW3 can't be played on the HDTV from a iPod because a iPod lacks a video card and power that can generate enough drive to send it to a HDTV, even if it did, the image on the HDTV would be tiny like it is on the iPod screen.

If it was blown up to fit the HDTV, it would disintegrate as there is a lack of pixel quality on the tiny iPod screen enough to scale to 1080i or even 720p.

More pixels needs more powerful video cards/processors.

A PS3 has a nine (9) core Cell processor to run the game and the graphics in high detail for a 1080i 1920 x 1200 pixel screen, it requires a lot of power and heat, thus powerful cooling.

There is no way a tiny atom like weak processor like the iPods A5 can handle it.

You might be able to take your limited iPod game with you, but your question was IF you could output the iPod game on the HDTV which I answered negative.

Ok I know that you think that I am just another one of those dumb people who don't know how electronics work, but I'm not. I already knew all the stuff you just said. lol The iPod touch has the A4 chip actually.  Modern Combat 3 is 3d also actually and there is a totally awesome multiplayer part of the game.  There is really no difference between MC3 multiplayer and MW2 multiplayer except for the maps and stuff.  And why would you say that the PS3 is using 1080i when it plays bluerays?  Bluerays are 1080p not 1080i.  I'm not wanting to play games 24/7 like some people who waste their lives away.  I just want some fun in my free time.  Plus, Modern Combat has gyroscopic controls which even dominate the Wii motion controls in my opinion.  Just wondering, have you ever even played Modern Combat 1,2, or 3?  If you haven't, I can see why you would be so ignorant.

    YES YOU CAN!!!!!!

i hooked up my 2 year old av cable to my ipad 2 to watch a movie tonight... i was just messing around when i pressed on the modern combat 3 app and i totally played it on the tv... a standard definition tv.

the game video appears on the screen and the controls on the ipad.  there are no control indicators on the television screen and on the ipad there is only a reddish background with the controls on it

either my device or cables dont support video mirroring because it only allows me to watch youtube and movies, HOWEVER i can play this game!!!

the only reason i made it to this thread is because i googled "modern combat 3 av cable" after doing it to see if anyone else had done it too.

oh and no way would i attempt to jailbreak this thing... i've only had it for like three days.

on another note i did notice that my 9mm game wouldn't work like modern combat 3 ... weird b/c they're both gameloft and were released within a couple of months of each other.  i guess 9mm is a little older.

so suck it all you nay sayers.  lick my taint and do a little in field research before jumping to conclusions.

Umm actually it can't.  lol I have no idea why I even started this thread because I have the cable to try it with haha With your iPad 2 it must be the cable because it should be able to mirror EVERYTHING onto the TV.

The gentlemans talking about MC3 a fps like mw3 but for thecamera phone..the game has min 7 hours of campaigns. And a multiplayer mode with multiple game types like capture the flag, demolition, domination, and more.. your thinking of just the game for ps3 and xbox not the same game.. ITS BY FAR THE BEST FPS FOR YOUR PHONE. that 7$ is worth it.. i like it cause its more like black ops that you get to buy your killstreaks you uavs, turrets, helicopter, air strikes.. campaign mode is bad *** at like level 3 or 4 when u control the ac130..your mixed up about what he was talking about.

And i remember gameloft talking about being able to transfer the game to ur tv wirelesly but only mirror now. The best is to get another app so you can play with a sixaxis ps3 controllers head shot all day.

You can as long as you use iPad 2 or iPhone 4s

You need to mirror the phone see here - http://applenapps.com/feature/the-best-apps-for-airplay-mirroring-on-ipad-2-and- iphone-4s

I stream from iPhone 4s to 2nd Gen apple TV

    Double click home button

Slide the application icons to the right and you will see itunes controls

    Slide once again

Press icon on right hand side (airplay logo)

Select Apple TV and ensure mirroring is on

    The rest is obvious......

No need for cables no need to jailbreak
