Some kind soul sent me the user guide, so the answer to the first question is found (the pull down menu is actually called Notifications). Now, how do I get Alerts from my calendars to appear in the Reminders app? Seems basic, or are we now using two different apps for the same thing?

I have the same problem, namely I am unable to remove the weather forecast from my calendar in the dropdown menu. I saw your last comment above and it seems like you were able to solve it from the user guide. Unfortunately I was not able to find a solution in the same way. If you could solve it could you please tell me how?

The pulldown menu is called "Notification Center", so
Settings --> Notifications --> and you will have all the apps that can be seen in the NC, press the little > next to your app and turn "Notification Center" to "Off"

Thank you for your feedback!
But that was not my question. I know how to manage the NC but I am not able to remove the weather forecast from the calendar. When I sync it with my Mac the weather also appears in iCal. Any tips on how to remove it would be welcomed.

The Accuweather app has an option within "more -> settings -> preferences" that adds the weather forecast to your calendar. Might this be where your info is coming from? Or maybe from another weather app, not the phone-supplied one.
