I am trying to get Xcode's new Network Link Conditioner Utility in "/Developer/Applications/Utilities/Network Link Conditioner" up and running.

The installation seems to work fine, at least the symbol has been added to the system preferences Overview. But when I try to switch it on, the preference pane just disappears and nothing happens. This is also true after several reboots & reinstallations.

Googling this didnt really bring up a lot.

Maybe that's a hint: in the xcode 4.2 release notes it says:

The Network Link Conditioner daemon cannot be launched after installing the Networking Link Conditioner preference pane without first rebooting the system. As a result, the tool will not function without a system reboot.

If you do not want to reboot the system, you can issue the following command from Terminal instead: sudo launchctl load /system/library/launchdaemons/com.apple.networklinkconditioner.plist

In my system there is not even a com.apple.networklindconditioner.plist under /system/library/launchdaemons!

Did I misunderstand something?

Where could I find a crash log about this on my mac?

Thanks in advance for helpful hints and kind regards,

Xcode 4.2, Mac OS X (10.7.2)
