I have a Pages document and I want to swap page 1 and page 2.

What is the easiest way to do this? Tried moving their thumbnails like you can in Preview but that doesn't work.

I tried some cut and paste but pretty time consuming with headers and footers and placement etc.

So, what is the easiest way to move pages within Pages 4.1?

First, make a copy of the document so you can revert if necessary.

    • Select all of Page 2 and Command-X.
    • Click at top of document content.
    • Command-V

I can't tell what you are doing with Headers and Footers from your description. If the suggestion doesn't do what you want, tell us more about the document.

You should know that even though the sidebar is called Page Thumbnails, it's really more about sections as far as what you can do there. Clicking on a Page Thumbnail will jump you to that page. Deleting and Moving in the Thumbnail Pane work only on entire Sections of Pages. So, another approach to your problem is to Insert > Section Break between pages 1 and 2, and another one between pages 2 and 3. Then you can move the isolated pages at will in the Thumbnail Pane.

The text on pages is connected, it flows from one to another. They are not pieces of paper.

If you want to work as if they are all pieces of paper, with the resultant difficulty in making text flow across pages, use a Layout template instead of a Word Processing template.

You choose which from the sidebar in the Template Chooser when you start a document.

    Jerry.

    Thank you. That worked!
