iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I got a 4s about two weeks ago now (around Oct.26) and I have to admit that I have not noticed battery issues. I keep cellular data off unless I need it, and I keep wifi on when at home. I turned off all location services and I disabled push notifications for apps that I don't use (including e-mail). I use notification centre for about 5-6 apps. I keep GPS enabled for maps and that is about it. I try to remember to clear the multitasking list a few times per day.

All in all, with 3 hours and 41 minutes of use and a total on-time of 26 hours I am still at 49%. This works out to about 1.96% in battery drain per hour. I estimate that at this rate of battery drain, I should get roughly 7.5 hours of use and 51 hours of on-time (if I let if drain completely). To me, this seems within Apple specs.

If I leave my phone on overnight but turn off wifi, I lose about 3% over 8 hours; or 0.38% per hour in standby (well over 200 hours of standby if extrapolated). I am in the habit (now) of turning my phone off at night and it is generally only on about 10 hours a day. I last charged my phone a few days ago.

My phone was manufactured between Oct.10-16, 2011.

It's a 4s but i'm from europe and i bought it sim lock free.

I can just go to General, network and then i have the option 'mobile data' ON/OFF.

It will stop the iphone from using some internetbased connection ( not tottaly shutting 3G down, sorry for my prev statement)
It really worked for me, battery time tripled.

put cellular data off and watch your battery.

The link above provides good information on the testing conditions for the various iPhones. It describes what some of the settings on the phone were put to in order to test the various "claims" for battery life. I would think that they do not approximate real-world use at all, or at least they way most iPhone users do.

Hey guys my first post in this battery fiasco.. So just want to get an opinion of people who do have this issue because I am not sure if I do. So I noticed battery life on 4s with 5.0 defenetly isn't what it was on 4 with iOS 4.3...

However I could get through a day with moderate usage. Wifi, location services, Bluetooth connected for hours at time to my car while streaming audio from tune in app.

Today since I updated to 5.0.1 I actually measured usage and wanted to see. I went from fully charged to 85% in 2 hours and 30 minutes with 50 minutes of usage. All things turned "on" on the phone?

Is that good?.

I have no idea?

IOS 5.0.1 upgrade seems not work.

If u check Settings -> Location Services -> System Services -> Status Bar Icon

then u can see that check "Setting Time Zone" make gps run always and always, even if the phone is in standby.

Definitely 5.0.1 don't fix the gps cycle localization problem.
