Windows Vista, itunes
I'm having the same issues on my wife's PC and my iMac while running bootcamp.
I have the same problem with running Vista, Started after I downloaded the recent upgrade and joined the Cloud.
Apple needs to get in front of this, when I called the rep claimed he had not heard of the problem.
Any who has a suggestion I would appreciate.
I have the same problem aswell. No idea how to stop it.
Same here. It's driving me nuts! I have Vista too.
My iTunes started doing this today as well. I have Windows 7. Windows suggested an update...which actually just took me to the download page for the latest version of iTunes. I have it already, but downloaded it anyway. When I launched it, it offered me the options of removal, or repair. I chose repair. It still opens up on its own.
Has anyone tried uninstalling and reinstalling? I haven't done that yet, and don't really have the time at this moment to.
Me too. Running vista, started happening this afternoon.
I am also experiencing the same problem since installing the latest iTunes. Also joined cloud.
Running Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1, 64 bit.
Really annoying. It also appears to be attempting to sync when nothing is plugged in.
I wonder if it's the new "Synch with this iPhone over WiFi" feature? I'm going to uncheck it and see if this stops my iTunes opening up randomly.
I have tried to check then uncheck the wifi sync fature but no success. Also tried repairing the itunes install. Still keeps starting.
I cant believe Apple is not interested in solving this problem. It's very un-apple to be annoyed by one of their products like this. Its so irritating to have iTunes open up like that every 5 minutes.
I was able to uncheck the wifi sync feature within iTunes, and it has stopped continously opening...thankfully. I also set my iPad to sync with the Cloud as well. Maybe that's part of why it's working for me?
I cant disable the wifi auto sync from the iTunes because it asks me to restore and it will erase all my data. I dont want to go through that again. Why bother to restore if its going to ask me to restore every fracking week and lose my data all over again.
As an update to my original post, unchecking the synch over Wifi feature for my iPhone 4 did stop iTunes from its insesent opening, phew. This latest upgrade by apple of iTunes and phone OS upgrade has been a nightmare. Activating the cloud option was a terrible idea for me, my calendar and contacts appeared in triplicate on my phone and in outlook.
You may want to try this to prevent iTunes from popping up while retaining the wifi sync.
1. Click on Start. In the search box, type msconfig and press enter.
2. In the System Configuration dialog, go to Startup tab.
3. Search for iTunesHelper.exe and uncheck it.
4. Click Ok and restart your computer.
This should prevent iTunes from popping up anymore but will make the wifi sync unrealiable. There are times that my iPhone is not able to detect it. Cheers!!
iTunes is basically finding your iPhone via wi-fi with the wifi auto sync and popping it open. So annoying but unticking the feature does stop this. Turning wifi off your iPhone/Ipad also works but why would you want to do that. Cant see many people having this feature ticked for long. Pointless..........
