I agree - I had NO battery problems with iPhone 4S and iOS5. Now, after upgrading to 5.0.1 battery is draining rapidly, and is as bad as the 3GS (which was VERY bad). What have Apple done? I should not have upgraded, but now stuck with around 18 hours between charges (with iOS5 it was around 30-35).

Yes have the same problem. Was looking forward to having normal battery life on my new phone, but the new 5.0.1 update actually made it worse. I'm about to throw away my iPhone and go back to a blackberry... At least the blackberry held its charge for 2 full days

On my iPhone 4 the battery life was good at iOS 5.0.

But now with 5.0.1 my iPhone is getting hot, even when I dont use it.

The battery life with 5.0.1 becomes bad! Very bad!!!!

After 6 hours (low usage) drops from 100% to 40% (Normal (with 5.0) is it about 85% or 90%)

Apple please do someting about this!!!

    HELP!!!!

Same thing happened to me.  I didnt have a battery problem before, but i thought the upgrade would make things better.  Now i have a problem, after charging the whole night, my battery only went to 99 percent and after disconnecting from charger, it dropped 10 percent in less than an hour, just sitting on my table.

I had the same problem, then I reseted my phone and fixed the problem (hopefully). I know resetting doesn't change the iOS version, but it seems like it is working foor me. Two hours in, I am still at 100%.

I just updated my iPhone 4s this morning at 6 am and my battery life is atrocious. Location off, brightness half, light Internet use in 2 hours with wifi and I have 78% battery remaining. 10% an hour of light use is unacceptable and my phone seems to be running hot now as well.

My battery life has also gotten SIGNIFICANTLY worse after "upgrade" to 5.0.1.  20min of web surfing this morning took it to 90% from a full charge.  Yesterday very similar use only dropped it 1%.  Come on Apple, I purchased this phone over other droid devices because I thought Apple had a higher quality standard.

Is there a way to go back to 5.0.0?

After the update my battery life is SIGNIFICANTLY BETTER.  Perhaps you are all not applying your setting scorrectly or have apps running in the background.  People jump on the bandwagon so quickly when they don't even know what the true cause of the issue is.  It might be user error.

How can i do that hard reset? please tell me.

    Thank you,

    Peter

Hold the home button and the power button for 10-15 seconds until apple logo appears (ignore the red slider). This will hard reset your phone.

Guys! This is another disappointing move from Apple, and the fix is not a fix. Meantime, I recommend to use ycooreman's method at https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3457786?tstart=0, using battery doctor pro. I did a restore after my post eariler on, and it seems going a little bit improved. But the fix has to be from Apple, this is only temporary. Guys, if you want, have a try the method!

There is definitely something wonky with iOS 5.0.1 and battery life. I updated yesterday. Put my phone on the charger last night when I went to bed with about 25% battery remaining. Got up this morning and the phone was at 100%. Took the phone off the charger and walked out to the kitchen to make coffee. While the Keurig was brewing, I picked up the phone, and the battery was at 99%. Proceeded to use the phone to look at Facebook and read some articles and look at some emails, probably about 15-20 minutes of usage. The battery was now at 94%, which is way worse than before, after this much usage. I put the phone back on the charger while I got ready for work, and it was 100% when I took it off the charger and left my house. I drove to work, about a 15-20 minute drive, and the battery was at 98% when I arrived (the phone was not used while driving, all apps closed). I walked into my office and did a quick search to see if anyone else was having worse battery life, and I found this thread. I saw someone's suggestion to do a hard reset, which I did. The hard reset, which usually restarts the phone, caused it to power off completely. When I manually powered it back on, the battery was at 100%. But, the kicker is that I didn't put the phone on a charger at any point since leaving my house. How did the battery go from being 98% to 100% without being charged and by only doing a hard reset??? How is that even possible???
