OK, now 1 hour and 10 minutes.  Something changed today for me.  FYI, I'm running airplay with an Airport Express.  Hope it works for everyone!

The update to AirPort/Time Capsule seemed to do something as music played for about 15 minutes but then the Zeppelin Air crashed again. So bleh.

Yesterday I had big troubles streaming a movie from iPhone 4S to an Apple TV.

The movie stopped playing after some minutes. Even after stopping the airplay and starting again.

Both had nearly recent software versions (the 5.0.1 occurred one hour later).

I had this problem running iOS 5 and unfortunately it's still there with 5.0.1: using airplay on my iPhone 4s will crash my DSL-Modem/Router, a Speedport W700V, after 3-4 minutes, only. On the same network an iPod Touch can "airplay" songs to the Airport Express Station (which connects to my audio equipment) for hours without any problems.

Apple, a quick fix would be greatly appreciated!

PS: I don't know, if this is of any help: the Speedport's control lamp for WLAN activity blinks very fast and staccato-like when I "airplay" with the iPhone 4s. t's blinking slower and less rhythmic with iPod touch.

I also can confirm that the problem still persists with iOS 5.0.1 and I am as frustated as all of you guys. But there is a little workaround which might give some comfort to all Zeppelin Air users. In all my tests it seems, that there is not a general airplay issue with the iphone 4s. Radio Apps, youtube and so on work smoothly and reliably. It's only Apple's music app on the iphone 4s, which causes all of the hassle. I therefore went over to stream my music from my iphone 4s to the Zeppelin air with the new Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Air app (free download from the App Store). Of course, the Zeppelin air app is not that intuitive like the Apple's music app and you have to sort out in the interface, which parts are simply annoying marketing and which parts are real functionality. But if you have sorted that out and you got to know, how to use this app, it provides a stable way of music playback from the iphone 4s - and it's fully integrated - of course - with your iphone music library. You can just use it as an alternative player.

I have used it for some hours now without any problems - and whenever there is a drop off due to other WLAN-intensive processes on the iphone it smoothly reconnects without having to restart the whole Zeppelin.

Yep, sadly I have upgraded everything, 5.0.1 and 7.6 for iPhone4s and Airport Express respectively and the problem still persists.

Apple, Please. 7 pages of people having problems. Listen up.

I may try making an appointment at an apple store. Since my problem is in my truck, though I will probably sound insane at first, I may ask the genius to accompany me to my truck in the parking lot to witness the problem first hand. Hopefully them leaving the store doesn't break some policy.

In my case, no apps that stream via AirPlay work.  I specifically use iHeartRadio and Sirius/XM all the time.  They will not stream without drop-outs from my iPhone 4S. They work fine from my old iPhone 4 (now used by my wife).

What's really annoying me about all of this is that the blogs have not picked this up yet.  It's a pretty serious issue and I keep sending info in on the "Tip" lines (emails, twitter, etc) and get no response.  iLounge did post a story today about the AirPort update and said it fixed the problem.  WRONG (according to posts I see here).  Additionally, the AirPort update does NOTHING for me since I am not using an AirPort router.  I have one linksys (G) router and my G router that came with my Verizon FiOS install. Connecting to either one results in this problem, yet (again) my iPhone 4 works fine.

Please, if you are having this problem, do two things:

    1) Report the bug via the Apple Bug Reporter page. http://radar.apple.com/

    2) Report the problem to iPhone related blogs (Tipb.com, AppAdvice.com, Gizmodo, Engadget, etc..).  Let's shed some light on this outside of the Apple forums.

Also, manufacturers of AirPlay devices should be notified.  I was contacting iHome and complaining to them before I realized the problem was not with my iHome iW1.  I followed up with them and pointed them to this thread after I read through it.

    Thanks!

    Bob

Like you, my AirPlay apps also don't work. I tried Sirius and TuneIn Radio. I can confirm that the B&W New Media Tech Support person for North America is aware of the problem. Those are good ideas to contact more people to let them know about the problem.

PROBLEM FIXED: I've had the same problem reported. iPhone 4s using airplay on Rhapsody, iTunes, etc crashes whole network (Time Capsule/airport extreme). ALL was fixed with the update to OS 5.1 and firmware update for airport extreme.

    Thanks for the fix apple

    Marc,

Move away from your wi-fi network and let the phone disconnect.  Then, return and try playing something over airplay when the phone reconnects to the network.

I had a situation where it seemed to be fixed.  Played music via sirius app for over 40 minutes.  Then left the house. When I returned, the drop-outs / dropped connections resumed.
