iPhone 4s Battery Life?

My iPhone 4s battery seems terrible! Almost equivalent to my 3GS and it's terrible battery life. When I got my iPhone yesterday and restored from backup I noticed nothing really changed with minimal usage and standby! Is this normal or should I consider setting it up as a new phone because maybe something is running in the background that's causing it to drop a percentage every few minutes under light usage? Input would be great!

I'm getting about 1/2 the life that my wife's iphone 4 gets. Last night I had a look at her usage VS battery.

She had 53%, with 19 hrs usage AND over 1 day in stand by. That's an iphone 4

my brand new 4S

45%

2.5 hrs usage

11 hrs stand by.

hardly a comparison

I know everyone feels they are Apple Technicians but we're not and all these so called "stop-gap" measures are just that STOP-GAP AND NOT really fixing the underlying problem. I've tried all of them with no "fix".

I will say again that we all need to contact Apple and call and call and call....bombard them with this problem so it will truly get fixed.

And everyone STOP whining....complain to Apple! I'm not happy either, but you buy a product when it first comes out you take a risk of having problems; if this bothers you so much, don't be an EARLY ADAPTER!

Okay, off my soapbox...I'm sure others will now get on theirs!

My iPhone 4s, after charging to 100 percent, goes down approximately 10 percent an hour with no activity.

Maybe I should get my iPhone 4 back from my wife, but she won't give it to me. I installed the new update and surely it is not better, not sure if it's worse, but both are unacceptable.

I passed my old iphone 4 to my son, and the battery life showed 70% after 26 hours without charged. While my iphone 4s shows 70% after 2 and 1/2 hours!!! I have updated both iphone with iOS 5.01 updated on Thursday Night which did not help. I have to spend $80 for the Mophie Battery case since I travel a lot and did not want to run out of battery when I need it!!!!!!

Well, I did test, and my friend also. On both Iphone 4S is just this same situation. Everything is off, only iMessage (without connecting Internet - 3G or WiFi) and use normall phone, when is running iMessage battery lost very more power quickly, than when is off iMessage. When we add else connecting battery is else worse.

Losing 10% an hour with hardly any use

Still got my iPhone 4 so will be using that from tomorrow.

I'm very disappointed with Apple I was considering getting a new Mac Book in 2012 but will definitely be thinking again before spending that kinda of money...

Dear drStangePork,

Can you please stop reiterating the same advice on every page of this discussion? Don't get me wrong, I am pleased that you have found a fix that has worked for you as Im sure are the people who it has also worked for.

I have personally followed your instructions and unfortunately it has not worked for me! I did it yesterday, drained to phone turning off then charged without interruption until fully charged last evening. I went to bed at this point and when I woke 7 hours 36 mins later it showed 87% battery remaining and a phantom 38 mins of usage in that time! It now shows 16 hours Standby, 4 hours of usage with 43% battery remaining! I have used the phone for two 2 minute calls a couple of web searches of no more than 5 mins and numerous texts, but nowhere near 4 hours of usage.

To add, I have also followede other advise by turning off this and that which also remain off and make my 4S no more useful than a standard non-smart phone!

So whilst it is very commendable of you to purport the holy grail of fixes for the 4S, I think it is multifactorial and not easily fixed by a quick reset and drain.

Apple, I implore you, get to the route of this issue and stop denying it exists with statements such as your most recent. Please inform your Geniuses, that there is an issue and to be understanding of customers who have this issue and reassurance that you take your responsibilities seriously!
