Q: Apple Hardware Test 2.0.2 for PowerMac MDD 1.25 Single.

Hello people,

No amount of searching has helped me to locate the individual disc image that shipped with this model of Mac that I want to test.

It's the last 1.25 single processor MDD released in 2003. I'm not sure, but I think the part number is:

OS X 10.2.7, Hardware Test 2.0.2, part#691-4567-A

Is there just one version of AHT 2.0.2 or model specific versions as well?

Cheers, R.

G4 1.42DP MDD, 2GB, 120GB, x800XT, 10.5.8 Server, Mac OS X (10.5.8), 5500 Director (250), 6100 (66), G3 Minitower 233 + Desktop (233), B&W G3 (350). LC, LCII

Max out the RAM if you can.

One last question for you guys. Do you think inadequate ram could keep the PowerBook g4 from booting off of the battery? The computer sees the battery and has fully charged it.

    Thank You Lee

I'm not positive, but I don't think inadequate RAM would just prevent booting off the battery, but prevent booting with any OS that requires more RAM.

Thank You for the reply. I hope I can find a copy of AHT 2.0.2 for 12" PowerBook g4 incase the ram doesn't fix the issues.

    Thank You Lee

Hello there I was able to pick up a 128 mb ram chip and a 512 mb ram chip. My PowerBook g4 12" 867 MHz aluminum does not see either chip. It shows bus speed 133 MHz ram 128 mb on board ram slot dimm1/j31 it shows it's empty all the way across for size, type, speed, and status shows nothing. Computer makes no sound at startup indicating bad ram. Normal start up tones. When fully booted it sounds like somebody is pressing and holding a key keys making it beep. And the trackpad does not scroll right. I've matched the ram to my PowerBook and I am

    Now lost.

    Thank You Lee

    Hi all,

I have a PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz (fw800) and am experiencing what appear to be kernel panic symptoms when I try to upgrade to 10.5. I think I may have bad RAM or too little (256 MB). Can someone send me AHT 2.0.2 or 2.0.6 so I can make sure the hardware is sound before upgrading RAM?

    Thanks,

    Cedric

You can't even think about Leopard until you have at lerast 512 MB of RAM.

Actually, 1 GB should be considered bare minimum.

Don't know how I missed the PowerBook & saw MDD! Or missed the RAM you have!

Thanks for the links, BDAqua, but I couldn't make a startup disk out of the insaller Disc 1. I tried via Disk Utility, and althoug the CD looked good, my 1.25 GHz 15" PowerBook FW800 couldn't boot from it. Is that because it's looking for a desktop?

Yes, Japamac, the RAM is pitiful. I have a newer MacBook Pro and the PowerBook has been sitting for about 3 years. At first I thought that one of the RAM chips was bad when I loked at System Profiler and only saw 256MB. But I opened it up and to my surprise there was only one chip. Like the urban legend where you wake up after a night on the town with only one kidney. I did a fair chunk of my PhD on that computer, running Matlab simulations and other heavy math. Not sure how I did it with one sad little 256MB chip. I have two 512MB chips on order for it.

I want AHT 2.0.2 to check if the hard drive and other hardware are good before putting anything more into it. The terrible lag and constant work of the hard drive could well be the RAM shortage, but I'd like to make sure. Any idea how I can get AHT on a startup disk from the material you linked?

    Thanks,

    Cedric

Hi guys I am back to report that I am still having an issue with my PowerBook g4 12" 867 MHz 128 mb ram. I now have it updated with a 512 mb ram chip and airport extreme card. The issue I am having is with the keyboard still and would like the 2.0.2 aht. If anyone can help that would be appreciated.
