Nov 15, 2011 9:53 AM in response to JazzNJavaby xninjagrrl,I have only had my iphone 4 since March and it has been one big headache. First, itunes wouldnt sync my music, then the first os update nearly bricked my phone, add in a smathering of other random issues, then ios 5 update almost killed my phone, then wifi sync is never working (heck it is ALWAYS grayed out, I cant even manually initiate a wifi sync), now the battery drain. As far as I'm concerned Apple products do not work as advertised. The only support from Apple is A) send it in B) reset/redo everything C) buy a Mac, none of those options are acceptable imo.

Nov 15, 2011 10:03 AM in response to shahram in romeby shahram in rome,I posted 3 days ago about the horrible experience with my ipad2 wifi+3G after updating to 5.0.1 and the battery drain at 1% per minute.
I followed the suggestions on the list and can confirm that the battery is back to normal:
1/ Setteings -> Reset -> Reset all settings
no data lost other than passwords and autofill info in the browser
and the wifi network passwords
2/ redid the setting and enabled the stuff I wanted: location services, 3G, BT, wifi
3/ let the ipad drain all battery and shutdown
4/ recharge to 100% - no software used no special trickle charging just the
power adapter plugged in the wall - not to the laptop
Now I seem to be back to normal. Once disconnected the power with batter at 100%
I haved use online radio (TunesRadio) for 1 hour, read some DC and marvel comics,
about 1 hour of browsing, emails, PDf files, some reading on iBooks.
Now after 19 hours I am down only to 90% which is pretty good.
Again this is with wifi and 3G always active and iCloud backup ON for my documents and data but no photo, calendar etc.
Hope this helps

Nov 15, 2011 10:08 AM in response to art_in_motionby TEfromboron,Just so very disappointed in the battery life of my new iPhone 4s that I've had for 4 days. I called support with a question about Applecare and was on the phone for 21 minutes. in that time the battery dropped 20%. This is with the 5.0.1 software update.
I have shut off wifi, location services, and all but bare minimum notifications. After about 20 minutes of Facebook browsing and messaging a friend my battery was at 78%.
I have also noticed that after 2 hours of sitting unused the battery drops 20%.
This is poor quality, and I am extremely unhappy. Even my 3 year old 3G has better battery life than this. Apple engineers really need to fix this ASAP!

So resetting all settings didn't do things like resetting your home screen layout or keyboard dictionary? This sounds like a good thing to try, but those are a couple of things I don't want to lose/have to redo.

Nov 15, 2011 11:17 AM in response to art_in_motionby iMike.,Hello all,
I have an iPod Touch 4G,and i had a very worse battery life with iOS 5.0. I played Fruit Ninja with 5.0,and after 10 mins, the iOS sent the popup "20% of battery remaining". When i updated to 5.0.1,and played with F.Ninja for 10 mins, the battery percentage was 97% The battery glitch is fixed for me,but this update created a new one. Because i cant connect to WiFi networks,my iPod always disconnect from the network. :S Its lost connection after 10-20 secs. Please fix this,i hate how i cant browse the internet from my Touch.

Nov 15, 2011 11:34 AM in response to art_in_motionby AndreHighett,The same here. iPhone 4, I didn't have battery problem prior to upgrading to 5.0.1.
I guess I shouldn't have tried fixing what wasn't broke.

Nov 15, 2011 11:50 AM in response to art_in_motionby cisnerosbl03,I had this problem after the initial upgrade too. What really helped me was wearing the battery down to 0% so it completely shut off. Then give it an uniterrupted, full battery charge. Seemed to do fix my battery drain problem. I can go at least aboput 1.5 days with moderate/normal use.

Nov 15, 2011 12:09 PM in response to cisnerosbl03by Dackz,I am trying a backup/restore process. If my battery doenst return to normal, I will wipe the phone clean and then restore it from clean. Draining to 0% and then bringing it back to 100% helped a little, I am hoping a restore process might fix it to normal. Its about 80% of what it should be IMO, not quite 100% which is normal. IOS 5.0.1 without draining the battery was 50% of normal. Ill report back in a day or so and let everyone know if that works or not.

Nov 15, 2011 12:13 PM in response to TEfromboronby joanne08,I have to agree. I think my battery is even worse after the upgrade. I got the 4s back in October and have had problems ever since but think it is now worse. I had it charged all night, was at 100% this morning when I unplugged it at 6:00 am , it is now 3:15 PM and I'm at 24% with barely any use throughout the day.

Nov 15, 2011 1:56 PM in response to art_in_motionby peter30,In the UK using an i Phone 4. No problems with battery drain UNTIL I upgraded to 5.0.1 last Friday. Now it is a disaster. Charged 3 times so far today. Now totally discharged so leaving it charging overnight to see if that helps.
I hope Apple come up with a solution very soon. Have they admitted there is an issue? I haven't read anything yet over here.
Fingers crossed.

Nov 15, 2011 3:42 PM in response to peter30by Spaztastiq,I feel better knowing I wasn't going crazy this morning. After spending the last 15 hours tweaking iTunes Match, I was afraid the service was draining my battery, but then I just let it sit idle on my desk at work and periodicaly checked it, every 30 minutes I lost 5% when it was in standby. When I was checking mail in 5 minutes, the battery drained 1% each minute. After a full night charge last night the day of standby has brought me down to 43%. I normally charge my 4s every other night, and I listen to Pandora and TuneIn Radio regularly. I have a feeling it hasn't affected everyone, just like I had no issue before, but clearly have a massive issue now.
SERIOUSLY, APPLE. Make an announcement acknowledging this garbage.
