I am looking to convert to an iMac from a reasonably fast (i2 Quad 2.3GHz) PC and want to upgrade the RAM to 8MB as I do a lot of work in CS5.

In the UK the extra 4GB RAM will cost me GBP120 from Apple, but companies like Crucial can supply 4GB of what they call compatable  RAM (1333GHz DDR3 SDRAM) for GBP20.

Why shouldn't I go for the cheaper option?
