I purchased a 15" macbook pro and a 500 GB seagate free agent go pro external hard drive (to use as time machine backup etc.) back in may 2010.

Since day one, every time the computer goes to sleep, it ejects the HD and I receive a prompt when I awaken the macbook pro that says: "The disk was not ejected properly.  If possible, always eject a disk before unplugging it or turning it off."  It also says how to eject a disk and that "the next time you connect the disk, Mac OS X will attempt to repair any damage to the information on the disk."

Is there some sort of setting that I can adjust on my macbook pro so that it will be able to communicate with the seagate HD so that will properly shut down?

I'm concerned as my HD is starting to not start up after sleeping and I have to restart my computer for it to see the HD and restart it.

Thanks for you help!
