Like printf(), except objects can be output with %@. For example:
NSString* aString = [NSString stringWithString: @"Some string"];
int aNumber = 5;
NSLog (@"The string is: %@.\nThe number is: %d", aString, aNumber);
The string is: Some string
The number is: 5
Really, you should just look in the documentation.

Open Xcode --> Help --> Developer Documentation
Search for NSTableView, look at the instance methods.
selectedRow is probably the method you want.
Have you worked through the "Cocoa Application Tutorial"? If you're just starting, a little up-front work will save you a lot of time and frustration down the road.
