The Estimated size of full backup is 211.64GB. As mentioned above, I've done everything in #D3, #A4 and #D7. Would you suggest taking my Time Machine in to the Genius Bar? Perhaps it is faulty?

Then it doesn't look like it's trying to back up your entire system -- that 212 GB would require roughly 254 GB (after adding 20%), not the 222 GB in the message you posted.
That's probably most or all of your home folder. Try to narrow it down, via the procedure in the last point in #D5 in Troubleshooting.

Disk Utility verification reports "The Volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK". I have also recently repaired the Disk Directory by using DiskWarrior, and it found no serious problems.

Rats. About all that's left is something screwy (pardon the technical term) in your installation of OSX.
I'd suggest downloading and installing the "combo" update. If that doesn't help, reinstall Snow Leopard (that won't disturb anything else), then apply the "Combo" again. See Installing the ''combo'' update and/or Reinstalling OSX.

As I said in my original post, I've already done both of these
Sorry, I didn't see that. It's in your 5th post (it's been a long month this week with Lion).
Do you know whether rebuilding the spotlight index might help?
Doubtful, but it won't hurt to try.
Ditto repairing permissions.

Pondini, I was having a similar problem as the dude above and I checked out your FAQ page. It gave me the answer I needed to solve my problem, so thanks for maintaining that resource and helping us out. Very appreciated.

@Greg: Sorry for posting this off-topic in this thread, but I see not other way to contact you:
I saw an older post of yours about importing e-mail from Entourage 2008 to Mail.app and preserving flags, etc:
Did you find a solution?
(I'm having a similar problem with Entourage 2004: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3516380)
