Q: Restoring Original Smart Playlist.

Those are just Smart Playlists, so you can create new ones and set the rules as appropriate, For instance, for the Recently Added list:

"Date Added" -> "is in the last"  -> "1" ->"Days"

You can make the days and the interval to suit yourself; you can have days, weeks or months.

If you look at the various options, you should be able to see how to recreate any of the others, as well as perhaps other useful playlists.

Easy there, Joey. We're all just fellow users here; no one here gets paid to help, so we reply as we have time and knowledge to offer. Posting multiple demands for answers only a few minutes apart will just irritate people.

The only way to get those default playlists back automatically would be to delete the iTunes library file and rebuild, which would lose any other playlists you're created as well as other information such as playcounts, ratings, etc. Reinstalling iTunes will not help since the library files are preserved. I think building new Smart Playlist will be a lot easier and quicker.

Rebuilding your library is overkill. Just recreate the playlists that you want and have lost. They're not required. The standard list is:

90's Music

Classical Music

Music Videos

My Top Rated

Recently Added

Recently Played

Top 25 Most Played

To rebuild any of the lists simply use File > New Smart Playlist and then enter the rules as shown. As you change options in each row working from left to right the relevant selection boxes or value fields will appear. Use the + symbol to create a new line. When you have finished entering the rules click OK and then give the playlist its name.

This one contains many rules which match with the word "Classical" in different languages. If rebuilding it for your own needs it may be better to include alternate classical styles, opera, choral, baroque etc.

Yep, I think he thought he would need to keep modifying the rules as he talked about needing to change the date. Thought it might be useful to throw up images of how each smart playlist should look. I've been thinking about writing the same up as a User-Tip so half of the images were already on file so to speak.

Deleting the iTunes library may also disturb your iPhone when you come to sync it. Things may have changed slightly with iCloud, but when it comes to syncing your devices with a new library that generally means wipe out and reload. That would kill any saved data and settings for your apps. There are ways around that, but they're more involved than rebuilding the playlists.

Yes, perhaps having an illustration will show how easy it is; much easier than re-doing the entire iTunes library, obviously.
