drStrangeP0rk... after reading so many non-constructive, pure ranting post throughout the support forums on the forums, i am convinced your statement is valid.  it is sadly a disgrace if it has come down to that.  have a good holiday.

Problem appears to have been resolved. Have restored phone from computer back up, deleted iCloud account and reset network settings. An hour later with everything running battery is still sat on 100%

    Yes!

    Thank you for trying.

This particular workaround did cost me ages to find. Good to see it works for you.

Don't forget to fill in the poll! :-)

It may be that many of the reports are fake or on altered devices. Most of the major press organizations may have figured this out or has evidence on a majority of users which can prove this. So if they try to quote a source and they are not reliable they will not touch the story.

There is still not release to developers of 5.0.2 which was a completely false report. I suspect if you have an older device you may want to review some of your older APPs and make sure that they are legitimate.

    Thanks and best of luck.

Again, what infection. Your dns record is only about 30 days old. What are you doing? There is no infection. What are you talking about?

Again, users, do not share any of your information with any links from this discussion. This includes installing any applications outside of the Mac store. Do not install any plugins that you did not go looking for. Do not provide your email address to any site or link from this fourm. Make sure that when you are connected to APPLE discussion fourms you are connected via https.

    Thanks and best.

Well, this is what we call "profiling", an art at which drJekyll excels. Rant and fake posts are common on every forum, not only Apple's. Of course some posts are flaky, yet since yesterday there has still been 5000 hits on the thread - quite unlikely those are concerted hits by third parties and such. Early on when I joined in I had harsh words for some worshippers who would say things like "be productive in life, forget about this and have a nice beverage" - can you believe such condescending people came here just to say things like that? It goes both ways. The issue was real, as Apple released a fix. Not everything in this life can be parsed according to dr's simplistic media/third party conspiracy theory. We're past any media raving that's no big secret, yet we don't need a minister of information reminescent of the worst fasco regimes. Trying to brush away legitimate users and their problems on such a distorted vision of things is highly hypocritical - it's agenda based. It may be some users don't actually have battery issues yet they feel like they have unsatisfying usage specs - in part because they don't know the spec, because Apple's marketing didn't properly convey the type of usage they can expect or because they're on the heavy side of the user spectrum and the phone barely meets their usage patterns. It may also be they just bought the phone and are having transient issues because they just installed 5.0.1 and the problem will subside after a while. Or they were simply too busy to solve their issue a few weeks ago and they come here and haven't read 5000 posts and there are no "stickies" or KB article to steer them. Nevertheless, they come here and expect some answers. Of course they just created their ID, and not everyone who just made up an ID is a fake. Yet they are sometimes welcomed here by the likes of drPork, who will promote a stereotyped one size fits all answer or try to profile them as fake, and they have to justify where they bought the phone or how many times they exchanged it and so forth. Siding with that sort of guilt-tripping/harassing is just wrong.

Since I came here, I can really feel a split within Apple's user base. Between those who love or prefer Apple yet have to courage to be objective and open-minded, caring for those who know less versus those who will at all cost - be it reason, intelligence, taste or even law - try to simply manage Apple's image and encourage obscuratism and contempt, with the worst arrogance one can find. Well, lots of people "out there" have had it of that latest kind, and what goes around comes around...

I have noticed that the battery drops relatively quickly from 100% to 80% then evens out down to 20% and from then goes quicker again.

Not sure if this is relevant but it may be just a dodgy battery indicator which a software update should fix. Also, Battery Doctor battery percentage often differs from the iOS one by a few percent.

If you had taken 10 seconds to read the posts instead of hitting on people's heads, you would know the guy means "corruption" of/by the restore. That was obvious and this shows your complete lack of care for fellow users in this forum. Or may I advise a proper support locale where you'll feel more comfortable?

A signed certificate is not available. DO NOT ENTER YOUR OPENID, DO NOT LOG IN WITH ANY PASSWORD OR BECOME A USER. THIS SITE MAY BE AN ATTEMPT AT PHISHING. If you did (Seems like only 7 users total) you need to change your passwords on other sites.

If you used a user id and password that you may use from another site make sure to change it. The CERTIFICATE IS NOT SIGNED. Site was up for auction in 2010.

Always be wary of sites that ask you to log in and use other credentials such as openid. Make sure you never use your APPLE ID on any other site, this is something that phishing and criminals are interested in obtaining.

So be careful and know the source, sites that want you to log in via discussion fourms should not be trusted.
