Mail just doesn't find things. In this particular instance mail is configured to work with an Exchange account, it receives and sends and synchronizes just fine. But I searched for a email I knew had an attachment and I correctly remembered the first word of the attached file. Mail even gave me the option to select a data tag or whatever those little "smarties" are, but it returned zero emails. I had to boot up windows, go into exchange to find it and yes, it's there. Once I knew where it was, I went back to mail.app and found the email (now that I knew the date and folder I could do it by brute force, not by search). Odd...the email is in there, the account seems to synchronize and have all the mail, but the search is broken.

I was really excited to switch to mac in a corporate environment, but I hate to admit it, it's just not ready when the email (and calendar) don't talk nicely with exchange.
