I have a Mac Pro Early 2008 2 x 3.2 GHz, model 3,1.
OS X Lion 10.7.2
I have an ATI 5770 card and it works fine.
Where did you get the card? From Apple? If you bought a PC version, it probably wouldn't work, as it wouldn't have the necessary Apple firmware.
If you did buy it from Apple and you are running Lion, it should work.
Sorry to ask a dumb question, but did you plug in the necessary power cable into the card? The 5770 needs a separate power cable in order to work.

I tried the card yesterday with a Benq Monitor, but I´ll try with a Apple Cinema 22" monitor. Yes, I plugged the power cable in to the card Thanks!

Is this the only card in your system? Do you have another card in it as well?
If so, can you see the card in System Information?

I want to replace my ATI Radeon HD2600 with an HD5770 in an early 2008 Mac Pro. I have read your correspondence from last November which makes it seem possible however, what about drivers? Do these have to be upgraded (sorry, I'm not sure of the proper term).
Can you confirm that a power cable is attached to the HD5770 card.
Many thanks for any help you can offer.

The drivers first appear in 10.6.4, and are better in 10.6.5 and later.Mac Pro (Early 2009), Mac OS X (10.6.8), & Server, PPC, & AppleTalk Printers

$13 if you need cable (and yes they use the same cable first found in G5s) Amazon, OWC and others sell one if needed, if you bought a kit w/o one.
