The Siri on my 4S didn't work for 24 hrs. despite reboots and resetting network settings. On the phone, I went to iCloud, and turned Contacts to ON. Siri started working right away. For me, the Siri issue just may have been an iCloud issue.

siri is in beta stage. this means that it is not nearly where it will be when its completely finished and therefore it may not work or communicate with the server sometimes just due to maintenance and (hopefully) updates.

just make sure your network settings are correctly paired and enabling your roaming sometimes helps.

    hope this helps!

I am so frustrated with this as well.  After the 2nd day of having my phone Siri stopped working.  I tried resetting as people have explained and it still doesn't work.  Not sure what to do about this!  I can't even get it to work at all, and I have and internet connection!  I also tried to disable it then enable it again and still nothing!!!  I am very disapointed!

Try disabling and re-enabling SIRI in settings, and let us know if this works.

Siri has been working fine for me up until the last few days when it started replying that it was sorry but it wasn't working right now. In frustration I just asked it "Siri, why aren't you working?" and it replied "I am what I am."

Then for some odd reason it started working.

LOL. I've only had my phone for three days it only worked the first day! I've been having trouble ever since then.  Plus, now that I went back to reset all the settings, it does not recognize my contacts. I also asked it why it was not working, she just responded that she was unable to take requests at this time.

So today I read on another post to close all the apps running in the background by double tapping the home button and deleting them.  I did this and now Siri is working so it appears that one of the apps was intefering with Siri.  Before that I tried disabling Siri and restarting and enabling again, changing the language to another English one, restarting the Network, every other tip I read except resetting all settings.  This one closing all open apps working in the background was what did the trick.

I wish that there would be one central place where we could go and get the tips rather than to have to search through multiple postings.  Something Apple could do to be proactive about helping us out.  All in all I do love my iPhone 4s but that experience with Siri was unexpected.  I should have read more before buying the iPhone 4s so at least I would have been prepared
