I've been having that problem a while but not sure what event started it. White iMac with Snow Leopard. Up to date OS and iTunes.

Still happens to me periodically, even after the latest update. Not a serious issue, of course, but I'm easily annoyed by such things.

Have you tried signing out of iTunes then signing in again?

Hmmm, I didn't know you could "sign out" of iTunes and not sure I ever did. I found the signout in a dropdown of my name in the corner, but only when I was on the "iTunes Store" tab in iTunes app. I seems like it might be working now. At least I was able to open the iTunes app once or twice without it ever prompting to enter a PW which is a vast improvement so far. Too soon to be certain though.
I seem to recall having a chat with iTunes support some time ago questioning why there wasn't a way to log out of the Apple Accounts. I was told at that that time that Apple didn't think we needed to logout they did that automatically (timeout?). At any rate, I stopped looking for a logout, perhaps that is the problem, but if so, that still constitutes a bug in my opinion.

After my Mountain Lion install, iTunes has asked for my password at times that seem random. I have not noticed a particular pattern.
First, after the upgrade, iTunes asked for my password three or four times in a row upon opening. Since then, it sometimes just asks for my password and I have not noticed a connection to any specific action. Sometimes it happens when I open iTunes (but not every time I open iTunes) and sometimes when iTunes has already been sitting open for a while. I wish I could be more specific about what triggers the password request; then I might be able to determine the problem.
Has anyone else experienced this with iTunes after installing Mountain Lion?
