Nov 30, 2011 10:48 PM in response to jasonfromcitrus heightsby Davidiblackman, thats your take on the matter - but it doesnt hold water with me at all. i HAVE TURNED OFF THOSE things and it still happens. What really ticks me off is those people that refuse to believe the product is anything but perfect. these are real issues, that many of us deal with all day, every day. take the head out the sand and take off the rose colored glasses.

Dec 1, 2011 6:27 AM in response to art_in_motionby fmiranda,Just got my new iphone4s. It came factory default with ios 5.0.1
I disabled location services, but left on push mail and icloud.
The battery is lasting 20-24 hours - light usage and no 3G data enabled, but wifi is on and bluetooh on.
I think besides ios might have a bug in the location services, updating the ios from 5 to 5.0.1 using wifi is also causing another problem (maybe a memory leak or something) -
The advice is to restore the iphone connected to the usb cable, does not recover from backup, setup as new phone, disable location services and you are good to go.

Dec 1, 2011 8:03 AM in response to art_in_motionby michaelfromgibsonia,This is where the whole battery strategy lies. Most people are happy, at least in this survey. That is determining Apple's response. My only hope is that Apple is not dismissing this as some one off event and takes a really good look at itself - especially the development and testing culture and processes and its leadership in these areas. Most companies fail because they are too arrogant to see the signs and lack the courage to aknowledge and deal with the elephant in the room.

Dec 1, 2011 8:23 AM in response to art_in_motionby Beauknowz,I'm having the same problem since 5.0.1 update. Using the iPhone 4G. Battery goes quick. For me, I'm consuming 15% per hour. I even tried installing battery doctor app to help condition my battery. Didn't help from what I can see.
Prior to the update, I could go 16 hrs and have 20% left before charging at night when I Crash out.
Apple, please send a fix soon. It's clear there is an issue.

Dec 2, 2011 6:40 AM in response to art_in_motionby sonny@parkesburg,same issue w/ iOS 5.0.1; got a 1.5 yrs old iphone 4; start to notice 50% percent drain in battery overnight w/ nothing running; turned all iCloud services off (even deleted the iCloud account), closed all apps, and have very good wi-fi signal...what else can i do? I was perfectly happy w/ it before the iOS 5 upgrade (battery lasted for days w/o charging). thinking upgrade to 4s but this make me rethink...

Dec 2, 2011 6:57 AM in response to sonny@parkesburgby ashwinfrompune,I dout wether Apple reads this forums ........ i wonder whats taking them time to resolve the issue or when are they releasing ios 5.0.2 ....Really I was happy first that my iphone 4 with ios 5.0.1 gave me backup of 2 AND HALF DAY WITH NORMAL USAGE... BUT when i charged it to 100% my battery started draning again my iphone 4 doing nothing that is on standby mode drains battery by 10% in 1 hour ...Hmm first i used to consume 1% in standby mode after 2 hours.
Apple Do somthing seriously and fast as many users are facing this problem ....fast because this issue is causing frustration and anger in iphone 4/4s user mind.

The phrase 'needle in a haystack' comes to mind. See one of my previous posts below for reference.
Somewhere in this forum thread a posting was written to the effect that Apple do not read the forums. Perhaps officially this is true, but practically this is abjectly false. At least two Apple employees told me directly that they were calling me because they read my posts in this forum.

Dec 2, 2011 1:05 PM in response to art_in_motionby vincentc92,This is pathetic ever since IOS 5.0 my battery has been terrible !!! 1 percent drain ever 1 min! I have to keep putting it on stand by but I am tempted to play a game but at the same time got to save battery life ! If this isn't fixed by 5.0.2 I will throw this out the window. I have an iPhone 4 btw and tried all methods no change at all.

Dec 2, 2011 5:21 PM in response to art_in_motionby evanfromhouston,I'm pleased to offer a suggestion/solution to all that are reading this.
Background: I have an iPhone 4 and ran iOS5 for since it was released without any problem. This included liberal use of bluetooth, icloud, notifications, gps, etc.
Upgraded to iOS 5.0.1 earlier this week and battery with a full charge would die within a few hours.
Spent hours reading this and other threads on the Apple forums and did all kinds of testing.
Turned off iCloud, bluetooth, notifications, gps, etc one at a time and in combinations. Reset network settings. Result was NO CHANGE.
Then I read the suggestion to turn off Push email. So changed my email settings from Push to Check Every 15 Minutes. Result is that the battery now works as it always did under iOS 5. All the other features listed above are ON.
So if you're having this problem, check your email settings.
For those of you that think it's faulty hardware, it's not. My test is on an iphone 4 that I've had for nearly 18 months. I can reversibly go between a great battery and a lousy battery by simply chaning the email settings.
Of course, Apple needs to fix this in an update.
