You missed my point. I was suggested not only factory reset - but also setup as a new iPhone - not restore from iCloud or iTunes backup. Anyway I am trying a factory reset now - and I know nothing will be fixed by this action.

2nd 32 GB white iPhone received. Same issue (here in Spain).

Come on Apple, the 4S is faulty. You can't ignore this...

Now I know why Apple is just ignoring us and static problem. Is it really only few people are affected ?

no way I believe all of them have the issue but people don't realize it. I had to tell two of my friends about the static before that they had no idea about it. And that report it's just hype marketing etc

Are only white 4S iPhones affected?

No...EVERY iPhone 4S regardless of color, GB capacity, carrier, or country are effected. Some users just assume the static is a reception issue and not a defect within the iPhone 4S itself.

sweet glad I'm not the only one! My first 4s kept losing signal, now this new one sounds like it's got a bee in it.

im haveing the same problem, i've changed 3 iphones and all of them have the same static sound inside. its very strange, i'm verry dissapointed this problem wont be solved by reseting you device or by not restoreing  from backup its a problem with the antenas. ive bought lots of apple products but iphone 4s its for me very dissapointing i had the iphone 2g, 3gs, 4 they worked perfectly but 4s i really want my money back. the answer from the service was 'we are sorry they are all doing the same thing ( static noise). i hope apple will fix this problem some how. apple pls dont let samsung take the lead

Same problem, it occurs in the ear speaker only, during ringings and conversations. Yeah I'm fairly unhappy about it. I mean how much did we spend on these! I don't get how these Apple product makers didn't hear it, it's pretty obvious.

Same problem here. The crackling noise is there and definitely not something I just have to accept. I've just send it back hoping that my replacement unit will not show the same defect. I'm not sure what I'll do if that's the case. Surely this problem must only occur with a certain batch of iPhones, not all iPhones are affected are they?

It's irritating to say the least that my carrier - who in Holland has to handle the repair, since they provided the handset - and Apple are not acknowledging this.

Factory reset nor resetting the network settings helped.

Received my first replacement unit today ... and I noticed the static again during the very first call with this device.

    D A M N !

    iPhone 4S Black 32 GB

    Location: Austria

    Carrier: 3

Has anybody  received a replacement device where the static is not an issue anymore? I wonder if demanding a replacement again will make any sense...

Another funny thing I noticed with both devices: When I poke against the upper back of the device I hear a rattling sound coming from the inside...
