I'm willing to bet everbody who connect their phone's wifi to an Apple wireless system (Express/Time Capule) are golden.
Everyone else is suspestable to a conflict with a third party router. I have an Express but my phone connect to the ISP gateway. I'll switch to connect to the AP Express tonight and report back.
My network is 4S to Time Capsule to Airport Express.
Thusly:
4S --)) Time Capsule --)) AP Express---stereo
No third party gear.

Dec 2, 2011 4:21 PM in response to teasethedogby Jizzo,Ok, good to know.
It's abolutely ridiculous that Apple's latest phone can't connect reliably to their own **** wireless hardware. No excuse for this.

Dec 2, 2011 5:47 PM in response to tjwd20by U2SockMonkey,iHome now has some information on their iW1 support page. They too specify that apple engineering is working on a fix. They also go the extra distance and say that you should not use your iW1 with an iPhone 4S until the problem is fixed.

Dec 2, 2011 6:21 PM in response to tjwd20by Prana117,What do you mean with "knocks down the whole network"?
I can use the Zeppelin Air with my iPad and MacBook Air without any problems. But when using the iPhone 4S it drops the playback on the Zeppelin Air after ~10 seconds. The iPhone still says that it is playing, but it does not. Anyway, after 30 secods it stops playing music. At this point I can't connect to the Zeppelin Air anymore. Neither with the iPhone 4S nor with the iPad or MacBook Air. The "network" itself (internet etc.) still works. After pulling the power plug of the Zeppelin Air I can connect to it again.
Talked to Apple yesterday about that problem. But I was told, that Apple is not going to fix it. If B&W advertises the compatibility to the iPhone 4S they would have to fix it not Apple. However, I don't care who is going to do his job as long as it gets done.

When I use the 4S to play music over the wireless, both the Time Capsule and the Express drop the connection and restart both the air play protocol and all inter/intranet services.
The TC is a second-generation, and the APX is a g-model.
As far as I can tell, the network holds up in Air Play until I am both playing music and accessing data--that's when it shuts things down.

Dec 2, 2011 9:11 PM in response to teasethedogby John Lehmkuhl,Likewise when I use my Apple TV to play thru my iPhone 4S via Air Server, it takes down my D-Link Ethernet + WiFi router. I'm going to point some websites to this discusion. This story needs to be bigger so that Apple puts more priority into fixing this because it's a huge problem with a LOT of people...

Dec 3, 2011 3:03 AM in response to tjwd20by micromag84,Same problem here! Streaming to Zeppelin AIR works fine with iPad2, iPhone4 and iTunes. Today I tried out my new 4S and the connection drops every 3-10seconds.
Apple fix this!!!!

Dec 3, 2011 11:53 AM in response to tjwd20by Jizzo,Good news to report. I configured my 4S to connect to an old Airport express (g) instead of the ATT wireless gateway it was connected to before, and all is well - 3 hours plus of Airplay streaming with no issues.
My previous configuration:
4S --)) AT&T Gateway---Airport Express---Stereo
My new configuration:
4S --)) Airport Express---Stereo and Att Gateway
Best of luck.

Dec 3, 2011 1:02 PM in response to Jizzoby ricdaw,Like Jizzo, I discovered this awkward work-around too. I have two Airport Expresses connected to two separate sets of speakers in different rooms. One also relays internet data, since it is connected to my DirecTV. The other, however, is a stand-alone unit.
I decided to "play" with the stand-alone one. I reset it to factory default settings, unplugged it, put the speaker jack in and then replugged it into the wall. In the factory default settings Airplay works out of the box. The device ceased to be part of my home network because, by default, it creates its own.
I have to switch networks on my iphone 4s from the home network to the new Airport Express network. It sees the airplay device and its attached speakers. I can then sling my music to those speakers with no problems at all. Yay! Plays endlessly.
Now the downside. Since the two airport expresses are on different networks, iTunes no longer sees the second AX and its separate set of speakers. So while I gained the ability to use airplay from my iPhone 4S, I lost the ability to use that set of speakers with the home network thru iTunes. Grrrrrrrrrrr! (The AX also blinks amber all the time because it's trying to tell me there is no internet connected. I haven't yet figured out how to stop that annoyance.)
So, for those of you who just want to use Airplay with iPhone 4S, it can be done. It just can't be done with the AX as part of a home network.
For what it's worth.
There must be something about the network protocols that is causing the problem. When my second AX was part of the home network, using airplay to it would crash the home network in 10 seconds. As a separate stand-alone network, the AX plays nice with my 4S and it airplays music flawlessly.

Dec 3, 2011 1:31 PM in response to ricdawby U2SockMonkey,Guys, before you come here and report that you have fixed the problem, I respectfully request that you try something.
After you get connected and you're playing music over AirPlay on your 4S, take a walk down the street and move out of range if your wifi network. Once you've done that, return and try playing music on your AirPlay device again. This typically will allow playback for 10 - 30 seconds and then it crashes again.
It's something about resetting your entire network and the airplay device that allows the AirPlay playback to work for a longer period. However, once the 4S is off the network and comes back, something get screwed up and doesn't allow the connection to be maintained.
I have had this scenario many times and can repeat it today.
I'm sorry, but I just don't believe that you have come up with the fix for a problem that has been acknowledged by Apple engineering as a problem with the 4S and AirPlay. Your other network components and the airplay device being used does not matter. This problem has been reported to AirPlay device manufacturers and to customers (such as me).
I do believe it will be fixed and that they are actively trying to fix it. I do not believe that there's a magic fix that any of us is going to find before they push out the fix. I'm glad you've found something to allow you to use your 4S for AirPlay playback for now, all I ask is that when it stops working again, please come back here and tell us so that your posts do not offer false hope to someone else looking here for a solution (which to date does not exist).
Thanks,
Bob

Dec 3, 2011 1:56 PM in response to ricdawby ricdaw,An addendum to my awkward work-around above (not a fix BTW, just a work-around).
I have figured out how to make itunes see *both* AX speakers. I think I have managed to connect the iMac to two networks at the same time?
A Qwest wireless router runs the home network. Until now I have turned off the wifi built into my iMac because I saw no use for it. Instead, I'd connect the Qwest router directly to the iMac with an ethernet cable (much faster connection speed than to run the internet connection thru wifi).
Anyway, I turned on my iMac's built-in wifi and logged the iMac onto the stand-alone AX network described in the previous post. Bizarrely, it worked. So now the computer uses both networks at the same time and itunes sees both AX airplay speakers and plays through them both. (I think I may have accidently improved things too. Since there are now two "broadcasting" wifi's (the Qwest modem and my iMac's built-in wifi) the redundancy seems to have taken some of the pressure off the Qwest modem. So far, the occassional drop-out has been very rare. And instead of both AX airplay speakers dropping out, only one does. Go figure.)
For what it's worth.

Dec 3, 2011 6:20 PM in response to U2SockMonkeyby Jizzo,Bob,
I can relate to the confusion here, and I am still skeptical. Let me just state what I know. After configuring the 4S to connect to the Airport Express rather than the At&t Gateway, the 4S was able to stream Pandora music to my stereo all morning. I left my house to run some errands (it obviously disconnected when I left the house), then returned early afternoon and the 4S connected to the Airport Express wifi automatically. I had to restart the Airplay stream from the 4S music player (no surprise) which has run without a hitch for about 2 hours.
There is certainly more complexity for those connecting to a Zeppelin, but it appears that for my set up my iPhone 4S is fully Airplay compatible with the Airport Express-g and not with the At&t Uverse Gateway.
I will certainly respond if the situation changes.

Dec 3, 2011 10:23 PM in response to tjwd20by adamgu,I've downgraded my Time Capsule and Airport Express units to 7.5.2 from 7.6. I did this via the airport utility. It has made streaming from my 4s much more stable. Has anyone else tried this?

Dec 4, 2011 10:43 AM in response to tjwd20by monteydogs,I have a an iphone 4, a 4S both with the latest IOS, a new macbook air, a BT home hub 3.0 and the Zeppelin airplay speaker from B&W - purchased today as a Christmas present. Thought I would check it worked with the iphone before wrapping it up for Christmas day ....
Whilst the iphone 4 does last for longer on the iphone 4 than the 4S it still drops out ofter a minute. The 4S lasts up to 5 seconds. The macbook air appears to be fine as long as the iphone 4S has not used the airplay first and trashed the network.
So the conclusion is for Airplay is not compatible with iphone's...
Apple should clearly state this in the marketing - these products are too expensive not to work, plus the wasted time.
