Be careful when deleting things OSX doesnt really fill up your disk with left over things as much as windows does.

Dec 4, 2011 10:15 AM in response to mancunian35by thomas_r.,Don't fall for apps that try to get you to clean your caches frequently. Deleting caches is a troubleshooting step only. Caches have a purpose: keeping your Mac running fast.
Don't treat your Mac like a Windows machine. They really need very little maintenance.

Dec 4, 2011 10:19 AM in response to thomas_r.by mancunian35,I noticed that I have 38GB of backups stored on the hard drive thought I back up to external drive. It also says I have nearly 100GB of audio when ITunes says I have around 87 - not sure where the other 10GB have gone.

As to the audio, not all audio files on your computer are music files in your iTunes library. There are also sound effects in the system and other apps, especially games, GarageBand audio files, etc.
Don't get yourself so worked up about this sort of stuff.
