i dont agree maybe this here isnt very big group but as i searched internet for solution of this baterry issue i founded many threads on forums in many languages and countries, so dont try to minimize this problem, and even lets say u have right, that just small group of people have this problem, still then apple should say ok it is posible that some customers experience battery drain issue and if so we admit problem and they can go to replace their device foe new one, but they dont say that cos all iphones 4s with this ios are garbage in this moment.

Really Frustrating Ios Release Apple I was Very Happy With ios 4.3.3 Please apple allow people to downgrade their iphone 4 so that we get rid of this pathetic ios 5.0.1/5.0.....

Somebody from Apple reads them - as can be seen by some of the less Apple-favourable posts that get deleted.

And to anyone following the reset , fully drain etc fixing issues, dont believe it ... I think maybe a clean ios 5.0.1 should be attempted. I think i will just delete all my apps and do a clean install once i figure out how to do that.

Despite the many postings in this forum exclaiming a found fix, the only real fix is to turn off all of the nifty features that make the iPhone a novel item.  All the resetting, starting from scratch, and draining the battery is nothing but hocus pocus.

If you have one of these phones with the battery problem (dare I say all phones on iOS 5+ have the problem?) and you're dissatisfied, then you have only two options: get rid of the phone or wait for a potential fix.

unfortunately turing off the nifty features doesnt work either.  i have EVERYTHING turned off and get 3 hours per charge, 30 percent per hour drain.  and I  mean EVERYTHING.

I have 6 hours usage today, Im at 7% left with NO calls, NO 3g surfing.  All text and wifi surfing and then it was only twitter/fbook/safari.  Mainly texting today.  13 hours standby.  Its hokey.  This 'flaw' is affecting at least 3 people I know that DONT post here.  Remember, with forums, its usually 5% of the people with something post in the forums.  So 5% of users, or less probably, are here.  So just think how many have it and arent complaining.  Its a hokey software bug that needs to be addressed soon.  I dont mind getting 8-10hours out of my phone on USAGE, but 6? and NO CALLS???  NO 3g????  cmon, thats just awful apple.  Oh yea, I keep ALL of my apps off when not using, screen brightness is at 20% tops, no location services, etc.  The 5.0.1 is a pile of crap.

I've tried EVERYTHING including davidch's steps (https://discussions.apple.com/message/16970221#16970221) with no luck.  In fact, I went through davidch's steps AGAIN yesterday, did a hard reset, made sure NOTHING was running in the background (by double-clicking the home button and closing any applications there) and then left it overnight after it had been plugged in (to an outlet) at 100% for about 6 hours.  In the morning after it was left overnight DOING NOTHING it was down to 79%.  ***????!!!!

Apple employees do read this forum in order to remove users that are not complimentary to apple. When my ipod 4g battery would not hold a charge with any of the ios after 4.0 and i complained to apple via the correct links and also here I  was removed from the forum.  Apple HELP is worthless, and this forum offered so many workaround that my ipod was useless,I gaveup and left for a 'droid. Much better than apple.  So sorry apple-you lost a customer that buys 200 computers per year for an IT department and would not even consider anything made by apple after the lack of support. Others should move on to better vistas.

I'm considering the same sort of switch.

Somwhere I read that the iPhone 4S uses a new sort of bluetooth (ver 4.0?) that uses less power (apprently the power use is such that a watch battery could drive the new BT).  Hence, I considered that using BT headphones with my new phone (4S) would result in slower battery drain. However this is not the case.  When isolating BT by turning the phone to airplane mode and then explicitly turning on only BT, battery drain is just as fast or faster than running with all radios on the iPhone 4 I used to have.

    What's up with that?

Whether Apple employees are monitoring or not, they (Apple) really dont care. It is just a bunch of complaints when compared to the millions of units they have sold. So why would they really care if just few switch to Android. The only option we have is either live with the current phone with crappy battery life, wait it out till the contract expires and then switch or .. just take the hit and switch now.

    Dear Apple,

I can't believe this hasn't been fixed yet.  This issue has now officially become unacceptable.

It has been a month already since the release of 5.0.1.   You fixed 10,000 iPhone 4S's with 5.0.1 yet managed to break and cause major battery and performancr iWilliams Monterey Fireplace-in-a-furnacessues to 1,000,000 other iPhones, including my iphone 4.

This is not coming from a 4S owner.  I do not own a 4S.  I have an iphone 4.  No 'S'.  I repeat an iphone 4.  My iphone 4 worked flawlessly until iOS 5.0.1.  Again, iphone 4.  This isnt just a battery problem.  My phone doesn't perform fast anymore. Reminds me of my 3G. Camera take a while to open. Images don't save quickly anymore.. Things are delayed.

Safari is slow as well. Ridiculous.

After updating to iOS 5.0.1, my battery drops at 2-3% for every 10 minutes of use. Not watching tv shows or playing games, not even making a phone call. Simply checking email once an hour and sending 3-4 texts, and dare i actually looking up something on safari.

I have read some of these "magic" fixes. I shouldn't need a magic fix or crazy A A B B UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A START to get my friggin iphone to work right again.

Apple, please acknowledge the IPHONE 4 owners and at least admit there is a problem with more than just the "4S" phones. You owe us that much. You owe me that much.

And please don't reply with "Did you try hard restart or clean restore or new install or drain your battery down yada yada yada.

I am down 7% since I started to write this. From 12:12pm pst to 12:21pm pst I have gone from 80% to 73%!  Oh make that 72% now... 8% typing a Fooking message to post on your site.

    Unreal.

Agreed with everything you said. I also tried every possible solution there is!
Went to the apple store and the crack head insist that my battery is operating normal, and refuses to give me a new phone.

Now with 5.2 beta out, there is still no mention of the battery issue being fix. Sick of this c r a p.

I have been critical of Apple on this thread on several occassions.  While I am certainly not excusing all of their behavior to date I do want to address the timing of the release.  If Apple woke up a realized that it's culture and leadership are the root cause of a problem that led to inadequate testing and this issue then taking the time to get this right and fix those root causes is the right thing to do.  Said a different way, especially after releasing a "fix" that made things worse for many, it is prudent to take the time to get this right.  Again that does not excuse all past sins and the lack of communicaion now.
