Dec 13, 2011 6:53 AM in response to illest.by Jaegar, restoring factory settings on the iPhone brings Siri back.....for a short period of time. Then she goes back to the robotic voice and starts to not be able to answer simple questions again. So not sure it's a band width thing on Apples side either since the problem would persist even after the reset.
Incredibly frustrating. Did these guys pick up some programmer cast offs from Microsoft or something?
is it possible to just do a clean re-install of the entire OS? I haven't searched on that yet but will do so soon.

More to the point, did you forget that Siri is still in beta? That means it is unfinished, not all features are ready, it is still being tested, it has bugs, it is likely to change, and is still being actively worked on by developers at Apple.

Dec 24, 2011 10:53 PM in response to disneygirl7by ngalloway,I noticed it when I finally was able to get the chance to update to ios5.01. Yes Siri is still in "beta" but by making it part of the 4S and therefore releasing it to the 4S public, they included us in the "beta" development. They don't really need to get our approval for feedback, but I'm sure that they got the test result they hoped for when people noticed the voice change. We can only hope that is the feedback/result they were poking at to broaden siri's intonation/gender

Dec 26, 2011 1:41 PM in response to Julian Wrightby Jaegar, when this feature is touted as the breakout functional change between versions being in BETA mode is not even remotely an acceptable excuse for a complete loss of function. If this was true beta wear testing it would have been rolled out on the iPhone 4. The mis-fire launch of the 5 and then calling the flagship function a beta is not apple MO. it's completely shoddy work.
so, back to not just giving in to apple fanboy-dum,
It's not just a voice change, there is a massive loss of functionality. Repeated failures to answer simple requests where there was no failure before the voice change. The voice change is just one symptom of a larger problem.
So, if anyone hears of a fix or of any information coming out of Fort-Cupertino let us all know. I'll do the same,
cheers and have a great new year, (hopefully with repaired 'smart' phones)

Dec 30, 2011 8:53 AM in response to Jaegarby Washburncreek,I can confirm this happened on my US siri also...restored several times, no results.
Siri sounds robotic and can't function as she used to...a lot of times i get "uh oh something's wrong" or "please try again" etc etc..
IDK how the **** this happened...my next try is to do a back up on itunes and see if something changes when I restore from itunes as it will give me the newer build (9A406) for the 5.0.1...hopefully that will get me the old, normal sounding and functional siri.
This new Siri is hateful and dumb(er)
Here's my original thread on it:https://discussions.apple.com/message/17127278#17127278

Jan 2, 2012 8:04 AM in response to Washburncreekby leonelfrommiami,Have you had any solution for this problem?? my iphone presents the same problem!! siri has a horrible voice!! What can I Do??

Jan 2, 2012 8:09 AM in response to Jaegarby Matthew Morgan,I'm not sure that the television ad can be used as an accurate representation of what Siri's voice should sound like.
Remember on of the original iPhone ads had the phoen ring with a ring tone that wasn't even available on the phone.

Jan 6, 2012 10:15 AM in response to Matthew Morganby Jaegar,It is though as that is exactly what the phone sounded like before the degraded change in service.
I didn't have a video of my phone from before so I was forced to use that one but it is exactly how the phone sounded prior to the drop off.
No solution yet. The Genius dudes are clueless on the issue.

Jan 6, 2012 2:52 PM in response to disneygirl7by gauravt,i am also facing the some problem siri voice has changed, is there any solution???? does the team of apple working on this problem????
-
Jan 6, 2012 2:56 PM in response to gauravtby Matthew Morgan,The Siri feature is still tecnically in beta.
So, I think it's fair to say a great many people at Apple are working on it.

Jan 6, 2012 3:58 PM in response to Matthew Morganby Washburncreek,That maybe fair, but what I find not fair/silly is to tout a Beta feature as THE main selling point and THE biggest new thing on the product. The way they advertized it, one might think it's well tested and FULLY functional, and not in developing stages !!! THAT is a stupid thing to do.
They shouldn't have hyped it up so much if it's beta.
-
Jan 6, 2012 4:13 PM in response to Washburncreekby Matthew Morgan,Well be it fair, silly or otherwise, my main point is that it is still in beta which means we'll likely continue to see tweaks and changes.
So, it's probably not worth investing time and energy trying to trouble shoot this issue as if it has an actual solution that's within your control or reach.
