I thought I could just drag effects to time line and sample, but I guess it's not that logical.

Thanks

I'll just say, while loading discs last night, it didn't go totally flawless getting stuck on disk3.

Is there a process to run that will verify the software is fully 100%?

I'm running 10.6.8 on the MacBookPro.

If this is flawed, I'll have to load it on the MacPro instead. He's 10.6.8 also.

It's not clear in your post (or maybe I'm just being obtuse), but are you referring to version 7 of FCP, or are you referring to being able to see effects that have been applied to clips in track V7?

Yes version 7, Final Cut Studio.

As said, it's day one looking over the sofware.

Maybe the problem trying to explore the effects, one must have a video already in the time line to apply effect/transition to to see it.

I'm not trying to go into main stream production, just hobby type to upgrade home movie/ industrial type clips of instruction of usually a minute in length.

There are a couple samples at YouTube under the same name here, using iMovie and mostly AVCHD.

But it would be nice to see / purchase a DVD of just effects listed in real time, so one can pre-assemble

a favorites set to streamline this part of the mission.

    Thanks Much Dave

If by chance there are links/sites I should review to get up to speed better at this level,

I'd be 50 something greatfull as a kid.

I did search Apple Support for tutorials for this version, but it looks as if X version is the only version supported now.

    Exploring,

I found by double clicking effect in the list, then space to play it worked within the viewer.

Now to figure out how to get Motion adjustments to see in real time what your doing in the other canvas screen.

    If thats an option.

Selecting video tab to see end results behind adjustment panel seems a poor way to do it after the fact.

Place the clip on the Timeline. Position the playhead over it and double click the clip to send it to the Viewer.

Open the Viewer's Motion tab and make adjustments. The clip in the Canvas/Timeline will change accordingly.

To come here and see this, Wow. I had it done in a second.

So Very Cool, Thanks' Much Nick.

There needs to be a Happy Hour Button within here, where you are served whenever on tour.

I've been at Creative Cow the last couple days exploring some of the tutorials,

till eyes are fried, and coffee pot is empty again. Granted most are advanced setups.

If I could also ask you, if you have a moment.

I'm not sure where to look,

I was under the impression there was supposed to be files of sound tracks of music to use within Final Cut Studo 7 that I just loaded the other day.

Within Effects Tab, under Audio, a couple Audio Transitions,

and a couple files of Audio Filters. Apparently that window is limited.

    Thanks'

For sounds, you can view them in Soundtrack Pro... they have music, loops, sfx, etc... I believe you can also see them Garage Band...

    Thanks' Much Christina.

Amazing how much there is to take in getting started.

Like telling a 5 yr old, your turn to drive home.

Don't forget that you have searchable .pdf copies of the user manuals under the Help menu bar item too.

They have a wealth of useful information.

I just completed that tour, and made myself copies of all of it saved to file for quick reference.

Printing out some of it to view near me might just work.

Thanks Again for your valuable time.
