Following up on my last post, I recieved a telephone call from Apple's Executive Relations yesterday. They thanked me for taking the time to email Mr Cook which he had forwarded on to the relevant team to investigate and take action, and they assured me they have been working hard to fix the problem, they noted that I had since completed the orders and they asked me if it was ok if they monitored the order and asked would I mind if they called me back when the cards where delivered, they apologised for the trouble I encountered with the purchasing on Cards, and appreciated that I brought the matter to their attention.
My email to Mr Cook was courteous and polite, yet outlined that my Christmas cards were on hold. I'm very touched by the engaging way Apple have reached out to a customer.

Maybe your issue is been solved but I'm still getting the same error message. I guess I won't be able to send some cards this Christmas. Now when you need the app you get this sort of errors.

I have the same issue here too - I've tried all the suggestions which in my case where already covered. Not good as I've kept my US cards to this service, which in hindsight seems to have been a mistake.
Ps having this site iPhone friendly would also be a good initiative.

I tried again 5 minutes ago and I get another error message now:
"There is currently no payment information on your account that Cards supports. Please update your account in Settings->Store with one of the following payment methods Visa, MasterCard or Amex."
Just as I thought in the first place, they don't support payments with gift cards if you use the Cards app.
At least now I know what the issue is, although I don't find it fair for the users that use gift cards.

Something has happened over night as I seem to be able to purchase cards now. Might have been some muck up on card origin checks? God knows why you would worry about the origin of a credit card verses the origin of the iTunes account or individual for a product like greeting cards...
Hopefully it remains working...
Hopefully the cards make it to their destinations before Christmas (at least in the States where they seem to be printed - previous test card too 3 weeks to make it to Australia...)

I apreciate the thing that you want to help us but i already tried that a hundred times and still doesn't work.
On the payment authorisation i get that error message from above what basically says that i need to add a visa or maestro card for this type of payments. Apple Gift cards aren't supported.

I agree that there are still some major issues with this. I was able to get it to work the first day it was released, then the next day (after NO changes to my account) it gave me the error that everyone has mentioned. After changing around to several different credit cards, changing my address information, and changing my country back and forth, it finally worked about 3 weeks ago. Now I just tried again today (again, after no changes to my account) and it's giving me the same error.
I'm thinking now of creating a new appleID, associating a card to that and see if I get any results there. Extreamly frustrating.

I finally got it working! I tried several times with the Settings/general/international/regional... - never worked for me!
But i then went into the Settings/Shop/'Account ID'/and choose to see the Account - pressed the Apple ID under top Edit - here it stated that the Terms had chanced and i needed to re-insert my email adress under my Apple ID... When i inserted that - and tried again from the Cards app - it worked!!!
I've now sent a couple of Cards from both my IPad and iPhone - All working!!!!

Interesting. I have purchases well over 1000 items through the iTunes/App Store infrastructure and credit card payment. I have yet to see any instance of double or triple charging.
I have, however, seen a number of examples of fenderheads buying things multiple times because the concept of "clicking" is very difficult for them. So much for moving forward,.

Please review Apple suppor article http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4990. The issue may not be with the Cards app, but with the method of payment.
"If you are having trouble placing your order, the payment method associated with your Apple ID may not be supported. Cards currently supports payment via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB only. You can change your payment method on your iOS device by tapping Settings > Store > Apple ID, or in your Apple ID account settings in iTunes > iTunes Store on your computer."

SERIOUSLY ANNOYING! When Steve was running things he made sure things were ready for release before launching them or would resolve fairly quickly. This app is non-functional yet apple isn't responding to these posts. ***?!
