I have it, but I have problem, because max resolution seems FullHD (1920x1080, 60Hz) and I don't know how to setup DELL native resolution (2560x1440) . I have original Apple Thunderbolt to DVI cable (dual-link) but in resolution I can see only FullHD. Any idea to solve it? I will appreciate any comment. Thanks.

I use the mini-DP to DP cable from DELock and it only works up to a resolution of 1600x1200.
Haven't tried Apple's DVI cable because it is expensive and needs an extra USB port.
I'm trying to find out how many people have problems with the new Thunderbold macbooks and external monitors. If the problem is widespread enough than probably Apple will take notice and do something.

I just bought miniDisplayPort to DisplayPort cable and ... IT'S WORKING!!! I have native resolution of display 2560x1440 on 60Hz. It seems that Apple mDP to DVI convertor is piece of crap.
Good luck and bye.

good to hear it's working - which brand of mDP cable did you use?

Might be an issue only with some MBAs - this is what I'm trying to find out. Because then I'll return mine and get a different one or maybe wait for ivy bridge update - perhaps Apple is inclined to fix the thunderbolt mess in the next generation.

My cable is chinese no-name MMK 645-200 (if you will try to find it with Google, name Wentronic will appear) with gold-plated contacts. I paid 202 CZK (approx.8EUR/10 USD). You can find it on Amazon.

Thanks! I just ordered the Wentronic cable. Judging from the comments on Amazon, it could well be that a poorly manufactured DP cable is the problem here. Would be cool if this works - I still don't want to buy the 100 Euro dual-link adapter :-)
(note: assumed the cable is ok in the first place, because it's working at 2560x1440 on PC ATI card, but then I remember hearing that the MBA has a less powerful Thunderbolt chip than the MBPs, so perhaps there's the catch, namely that you need better cable)

The Wentronic cable did it.
So the fault was either with the DP cable Dell ships with the U2711 or the mini-DP-to-DP adapter from DPLock, we'll never know.

Never say never.
Actually the DELock cable is faulty.

I'm still having trouble with this - same cables to other monitors the 1080p is good, on the Dell is cannot support more than the 720p.
I'm hearing there is a "setting" on the Mac that has to be jsut so - but I cannot find it in the forum. Help?
