I changed a little bit with the lyrics and tried to udate with iTunes, however, no matter how many times I tried, the lyrics on iPhone just can't get updated.

Any suggestions?

    Delete iPhone song and resync.

I have experienced the same problem, and deleting the song from the phone does not solve it. It's maddening.

Also, songs updated from iTunes Match do not get lyrics sent to the iphone at all. Songs synced via cable with Match off do get the lyrics, but the updating problem remains.

Since you can't edit iCloud music ID3 tags, you have to download locally, add lyrics and sync from computer.

I added the lyrics to the id3 tags BEFORE uploading them to icloud, so the lyrics are present in the icloud versions. I have confirmed this by downloading them from icloud to another mac: the lyrics are there. However, when downloading the same tracks to the iphone from icloud, the lyrics do not show.

If I download them from the mac to the phone via a cable, the lyrics do show.

This is a different bug than the original poster's bug, though, and I have experienced both. A song on the iphone has incorrect lyrics; when I correct them on the mac and sync again, the updated lyrics never get transferred to the iphone, even if I delete the entire library from the iphone and sync to it when it's empty. It still gets the old, incorrect version of the lyrics. How, I have no idea. Another bug.

If that's the case, can you play the song that has lyrics?

Is your iPhone Settings > Music > Lyrics & Podcast Info ON?

If the answer is yes for both questions, then while the music is playing, give it a tap and the lyrics should show. (You will also see the song's duration)

That's the way it's supposed to work, but it doesn't work that way. I see the lyrics fine for songs I have downloaded to the iphone via a cable and manual sync. The lyrics do not transfer or show when pulled from icloud. To be clear:

    mac -> iPhone: lyrics show.

iCloud -> mac: lyrics show (on mac).

iCloud -> iPhone: lyrics do not show.

I put the lyrics into itunes on my desktop mac, then used that mac to upload to icloud. I then pulled down to my macbook pro from icloud, and the lyrics I put in previously via the desktop were there correctly. When syncing to the iphone from the macbook, the lyrics transfer. However, when I turn on icloud on the phone, the songs download but the lyrics are missing. The icloud transfer to the mac preserves the lyrics, but the icloud transfer to the phone apparently discards them.

    You are saying

    Mac -> iPhone = ok

Can you do this test to be sure

Mac with lyrics upload to iCloud

DELETE that Mac song with lyrics locally

Check that it is really gone locally.

iCloud -> Mac: is lyrics still there?

The reason is, I don't think iCloud store different versions for different devices. I could be wrong. That's why the test.

Yup, that's what I've been doing. And right now I'm pulling songs from icloud to a mac that's never seen them before, after adding lyrics on the other mac and uploading them to icoud from there. They're new to this machine, the lyrics are there. And when I transfer them to the phone from this mac, using a cable, the lyrics do go across and show. But if I pull them directly to iphone from the cloud, they don't.

What worked for me --- lyrics edited in iTunes (10.5.1, 10.5.2) does not sync to iPhone (5.0.1):

    • Do a regular sync (which creates a backup file, you can see it happening in the progress window, check the timestamp in iTunes preferences)
    • Restore the iphone to it's latest version (in this case 5.0.1, I reused the original file I downloaded a while back)
    • When prompted to set up a new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup.
    • Your settings (and music) are *pushed* from iTunes back onto the iPhone.

This way, you don't have to use other methods like deleting all the songs from your iTunes library, syncing, and re-adding them back -- which will reset your play counts, skip counts, etc.

    Downside: reset, and resync time.

    Hope that helps.

I gave the same problem, have you find a solution Slinberg?

For me the only solution that I've found was tu use Soundhound

Same problem here. Lyrics changed in iTunes are not changed on the iPhone. Deleting the song and adding it later again does not solve the problem. The old lyrics magically reappear on the iPhone.

I will notify Apple via the feedback webpage. Hope this will help. (It has helped before.)

Hi. Im having the same problem too.

I tried deleting the song and syncing it again. And restarted my phone. Have you found any solution to this matter? It's annoying. Thank you in advance!

I have the same problem. Added proper lyrics, did a manual Match update, but no lyrics visible on the iPhone

My collegues are happy I suppose, no singing from me, hehe.

    Look these Thread:

I think that's the bug you also have.

If that's the case, report it here:

    www.apple.com/feedback/

The more people reporting that bug directly to Apple, the faster they will work on a solution.
