Q: iTunes Match missing songs and artwork on iOS

My iTunes Match has been driving me crazy. On my MacBook iTunes, I can see all my music in the cloud with all tracks and artwork showing. On my iPhone 4S, with iTunes Match enabled, I see my albums but multiple tracks are missing from each as is a lot of the artwork. This is making it pretty much impossible for me to download the tracks I want to keep onto my iDevice, which seems like a key feature of iTunes Match. I've tried turning iTunes Match on and off on my iPhone with out any better results.

Why can I see the music on my MacBook (which has no local files at all, it's all in iCloud) but then everything is all screwed up on my iPhone?

Also, some songs it says I have already downloaded even though the songs are no longer on my phone that I can see. What a mess.

iPhone 4S, iOS 5.0.1

Many complaints about this issue. I have the same problem. I suggest that we should claim a massive refund. Apple is not fulfilling the expectations created by what they advertise.

This is the first time I've ever had a real problem with Apple and its software/hardware. I spent half an hour on the phone with Apple support today and all they could suggest in the end was completely wiping and restoring my iPhone. A basic Reset All Settings did nothing. I really don't want to restore my phone as the number of apps and other files will take ages AND I really shouldn't have to. I should not have to restore my iPhone to SEE what's in iTunes Match in the cloud.

Another frustrating wrinkle is that my iTunes Match collection shows up fine on my iPad 2. I can see my whole collection and download anything I want. On my iPhone 4S, it's still totally broken. Makes no sense!

I would probably like some refund over this debacle but would settle for something that fixes this.

OK, after screwing around with various things, I think I've finally got my iPhone 4S to display my iTunes Match and iCloud library properly. First, I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone and force quit the Music app. I then went to my MacBook and through iTunes signed myself out in the Store menu. Then, I signed back into iTunes and iTunes Match. I also went in to manage devices and removed my iPhone 4S from the authorized list. I then went to my iPhone and turned on iTunes Match again. After a minute or so, my iTunes Match libary showed up and the artwork filled in after another few minutes. Phew. Now I can get on with my life!

Seriously Apple, this service absolutely *****...and I'm paying for it.  No matter what I do, I cannot get my artwork to show up on my iPhone or iPad consistently.  I can logout and back in, or do the get info trick, or unathorize then authorize.  No matter what...after awhile, it will revert to no album art.  It's pathetic.  Amazingly, Amazon and Google NEVER fail to show my album art.  NEVER, EVER, EVER, NEVER.  Yet Apple can't get it right.  Why am I paying for a service that claims to "just work" but DOESN"T WORK?  I guarantee I won't be renewing my subscription.  Pathetic.

It appears my problem may have been a corrupt playlist.  One of my playlists said I had something in it other than music (but I didn't).  I deleted it and rebooted my phone and restarted iTunes.  It eventually fixed "most" of my missing cover art issues.  I haven't synced my iPhone to my Mac yet and I suspect if I do it will screw up again, but it's working for now.

This is at least the 7th time I've had to monkey with iTunes Match because of missing artwork since I subscribed.  It doesn't work as advertised and has caused me to waste a lot of time.  I suppose some people don't care about cover art, but I do, and when I pay for a service I really expect it to work.  I can live with a bug or two, but missing artwork for over 50 albums out of 704 is too much.

iTune Match is a good idea haunted whith a bunch of bugs and aberrant ideas (the last one is - since iOS 6 - the fact that you can't delete a song or an album on an iDevice if iTunes match is on !!!).

    Nasty

So absurd : it could (should) work as Spotify does.

same here... no matter if iOS5 or iOS6... When you set up iTunes Match from the scratch it looks just perfect, with all the album art. But then after some days, album art begins to disappear...

Some of them come back when you open the album and close it again - some won't. And even if you got it back - it just disappears again!

Another very annoying bug ist, that albums get torn apart. I see too albums of some of mine and they both show a part of the original album. And it's definetly no an issue with bad ID3 Tags or somethin like that. It happens with purchased music from the iTunes Store too!

I really hoped Apple was going to fix this issues - i'm using it since day one, so almost a year now. And nothing changed!

I don't think I'm going to renew my subscription.

I'm not sure if this is the same issue but I added a tune to my library on my iMac and it will not show up on my iPhone. When I connect the phone to my iMac, the tune appears in iTunes in the list of "Music" but has an exclamation point next to it and it will not play. It doesn't show up at all when I look for it on the iPhone. Does that mean it never uploaded? How can I confirm the upload? I hope my description of this is clear. Has anybody had a similar situation and if so, any remedies?

    Thanks

I am also thinking no renewal of my subscription.

Don't think this is the same issue... I think you're having trouble to get your tune into the cloud. Try to righclick on your song and then select 'add to icloud' - or just try Store -> Update itunes match. There are some cases where you can't upload a song into the cloud. This should help you to understand why: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4124

    cheers

Sadly I don't have the option "add to icloud" nor "Update iTunes Match". I'm not sure what's up. Where do you suggest I go for help with this issue.
