I can replicate the issue.
Downgrading requires that you have a copy of the Library in the older format, do you?
Perhaps easier is to install a Shareware called Default Folder X. This enhances the Export dialogue in many ways, including the option to remember the last used destination, recently used destinations and other such things.
No connection with the developer or the app, just been using it for years.

Thanks for the reply. I'd have to get the old version from TimeMachine - not sure what else I'd be losing, so I guess I'll skip it.
I'll give the app a look. Still trying to swallow that price tag, though. We'll see how I feel in 30 days.

I'm having the same issue--this is really frustrating and non-Apple-like. I feel like iPhoto was downgraded. At least put the default export folder into Preferences. Any idea if this will be addressed?

No idea. Have you told Apple you want it?

Make sure you submit the feedback mentioned above. It's the only way we'll get this bug, er uh, behavior corrected!

Thank you for pointing me to the feedback form!
This has been driving me nuts for weeks.
