I have an iPhone 4 running on iTunes 9.2 on OS 10.6.4. I have music on my iPhone but when I connected it to my computer none of the music shows up. The iPhone itself shows up in the source list and everything else seems to be working (apps, etc...) but when I click on the music section it comes up blank.

Any suggestions?

Have you selected to manage your music manually? This is set in the first tab.

I have exactly the same problem. Have manage music manually selected. Have tried restore and then added music back on. When the iPhone is disconnected and then iPod icon selected there is no music present on the iPhone. Interestingly the podcasts are still there. Quite vexing. Ideas would be gratefully received....

If the music was purchased on the iphone, did you select "Transfer Purchases from My iPhone" in the itunes File pulldown menu?

I had the same exact problem and finally shut down my phone and restarted it.  My music then appeared.  Hope that helps.

I have an iPhone 4S and have the same issue.  I noticed yesterday that I had alot of duplicate songs on my iPhone so I did the drastic thing and removed all music from iTunes then synced my iPhone.  This removed all the music from the iPhone, but still shows audion in the capacity bar at the bottom.  Sure enough when i go into music on my iPhone there is still music on the phone.

I can't see this music from iTunes at all.  I've tried sync'ing and manually managing music both, and neither of them will make the music show back up in iTunes.

The music just seems to be stuck on my phone.  I really don't want to have to restore my phone, but right now i don't know if i have much choice.

I just noticed this today, I have 135 songs in ITunes, but on my iPhone 4s I have 138 songs in the playlist. I deleted all the songs on my iPhone via iTunes and only 135 deleted, I still have 3 songs on my iPhone but none of them are showing up in iTunes.  I can play the songs on my iPhone just fine but have no way of deleting them at this time, I am running iTunes 10.5.2.11 and my iPhone is running 5.0.1.

    Please fix this ASAP!

Click on iphone under the device section, then go to file and "transfer purchases from iphone" - should work, good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion rjhessl, unfortunately that did not work. Still in iTunes I see 135 songs on my iPhone but on the iPhone I see 138 listed.

I was having the same issue with songs not showing up on itunes when connected to my phone.  Basically it started when my music was not playing or skipping all over, so I deleted all of my music from my phone.  After I deleted it all I saw there were still 6 songs on my phone but not showing up in itunes so I couldn't delete them (and by the way the leftover songs were skipping and malfunctioning).  So I just went ahead and did a back up and restored the factory settings.  Then when I restored it back to my phone settings the songs were gone.  I added songs back onto the phone and everything is working fine now.
