What version of iPhoto ? What version of the OS? (Note: there is no iPhoto 10)

My mistake - its iphoto 9.2.1 on OS x 10.7.2. The Kodak C613 digital camera attached by USB - used to load and be able to see thumbnails of all images then select ones to import.
Now it goes throught the loading cycle but thumbnails ALL just blank boxes on the screen. Can still select them (either photo or video) but when then instruct the mac to import selected it returns the dowloading error message
"iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem downloading an image."
There are short video clip recorded on the camera too but I'd expect iphoto to either cope with them or reject them.
I tried to use timemachine to go back to a time before the error but it refused to reload the app/let me into that version due to some files being locked etc. That crashed the lot and i had to re-install iphoto. Impressed the previous photos were still there but unable to resolve the import issue.
I am a novice - suggestions welcomed. Thanks

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Kodak cameras have been giving trouble for a while now. You can read more about it in these topics:
So far have not seen a fix for the problem. A workaround is to use a card reader to upload the photos to the Desktop and then import into iPhoto.
