Q: Invalid Security Code - frustration !

Hello to you all Apple/Mac lovers ,

I did see that someone had already posted about this earlier, only the topic was marked as solved so I'm making a new one.

Here's a little heads up for anyone who doesn't about this : when trying to add a credit card to the payment info on my iTunes store account, it says that I have to enter a valid security code - but the code I entered is already fully valid ! However many times I try I can't get it to work. Any clues, ideas, help ? Thanks a lot !

This situation has nothing to do with Visa. I am using a Master Card Platinum card and started having this problem this morning. I noticed it while trying to change some settings on my iPod. I then went to my Mac and tried to make the adjustments - deleted the c/c information completely and then re-entered - still having the same problem. This is an Apple glitch - there is no way that this problem could be bank related unless 10,000,000 of us are all using the same bank - what are the odds of that happening?

I am seriously upset! I have an ipod, iphone, nano, and now I just got an iPad 2. I have invested years of money and time into your products and I am getting this Security code error? I have not changed ANYTHING with my security code or credit card in the past year! Looking back on this issue dates all the way back to 2008 and it still has not been fixed? I have tried three different cards tonight, my husband and I both tried and re-tried the security codes without success. We have even tried calling the iTunes support and received a voice message! I am disappointed and upset this cannot be resolved and has been an ongoing issue for years.

Any community assistance in this matter would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

Well, you can add my complaint to this, apparently, long list.  iTunes Store sponaneously stopped accepting charges from any of my cards and all with the same  Invalid Security Code error.  Then I get a " Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."

I'm beefed. And I guess there's no solution other than coming from Apple. Grrrrrrrrrrr.....

I got the same error here.

Already tried to enter a different CC instead VISA but got same bug. It insists to give me "security code" error.

OK Apple, I guess we got enough, solve this right now, pls.

I ve tried to use ALL the solutions here but no success..., anybody has any other idea?

Got the same error. Every place says erase the credit card information and just go with "none" for the credit card, but I don't think there's an option to do that anymore.

After many attempts I finally tried the PayPal option for billing (using my currently problematic debit card number).  Strangely, it worked.  And, to their credit, Apple responded via email to my request for assistance at the Express Help Desk (or whatever it's called)  and we exchanged several emails.

The young lady with whom I communicated checked my account and suggested there was a problem with my last purchase and that I should wait a week until it clears the credit card company (or Apple's billing department - I'm not sure).  She told me to contact her as long as I needed help.  I thought that much was to Apple's credit.

Nonetheless, the problem still persists for many people and Apple really needs to address this issue.  So,  I guess all I can suggest is to try going through PayPal option.

This is a real bummer. I bought my iPhone4S, and for the first few days everything worked hunky-dory. I bought a couple ringtones and songs off iTunes, everything worked, downloaded some free apps (twitter, facebook, pandora, basics...)
Now yesterday when I tried to upgrade my NewYorkTimes app, it demanded that I update my billing info. Everything was the same as I had entered it, but my security code was blank. Upon entering it and pressing 'done', I was told that my security code was incorrect. When I entered not just the 3-digit CCV number on the back on my Visa, but the additional (first) 4 digits (the last 4 digits of my card number), i was given the message that 'credit card billing is currently unavailable'.
Tried to update my Pandora and Twitter today, same message. I just texted my sister and asked her to try on her 4S, and it worked. That was like 10 minutes ago, but my info still won't work. Have re-entered it on the Apple.com site, still nothing. Really bummed that I can't update free things...

I'm not going to go through Paypal, myself, because I think they are a poor company to do business with...

Just glad that I already downloaded SOME version those apps, so at least I have access to something.

I have recently started having the same issue. It all started when my father sent me a movie as a gift on Itunes. First off it took me over two days to receive the email with the redemption code for the movie (I looked this up and it turns out that it is another common bug that apple has yet to fix) and then when I tried to redeem the movie an error came up saying that there was a problem with my billing information. First I thought it was the fact that I did not have enough money on my debit account for a previous purchase that I had made (which I'm not sure how I downloaded the item if I did not have sufficient funds on my accout) but anyway I transferred the necessary funds and now the security code issue is coming up. I tried all of the methods mentioned to fix it with no success and I just sent an angry email to apple support listing the issue. The thing that really irks me though is that I cannot receive a gift that has already been payed for by my father JUST because of an issue with my own debit cards security code. Now that's what I call rediculous.

Hi guys I had the same issue & I e-mail them.. in a few hours some one from the support replay to my e-mail & send me the instruction.. and finally it works!! find the replay below

Mr. Hidden Dragon, don't lose heart, since you are ready to buy from the App Store please know that you can create an account without a credit card. To create an account without a credit card, iTunes Gift Card, Gift Certificate, allowance, or code, follow the steps in this article:

Create an iTunes App Store account without a credit card

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

If in the future, you would like to use a credit card on your account please know that Apple is not able to troubleshoot or determine the specific cause of a card being not being accepted. When a credit card is not accepted for any reason, this is a sign that something needs to be addressed by the issuer of the card being used. Your bank or credit card company will be happy to help you troubleshoot the error. Once this is resolved, please follow these steps with your bank or credit card company to troubleshoot the issue:

    1. Contact your bank or credit card company and ask to speak with the fraud/security department.

    2. Tell the representative that your security code is being rejected. Ask them to review your account to see what might be preventing you from using the card to purchase from the iTunes Store. Ensure that they thoroughly review your account until they locate and resolve what is causing the issue.

    3. The bank or credit card company will need to remove any holds on your account. The bank or credit card company could also bypass the authorization process.

Once the bank has resolved your issue, the card should work with the iTunes Store.

I want the world to know how valuable you are to us here at iTunes and personally thank you so very much for choosing the iTunes Store. I appreciate your business.

    FIX FOUND!!!

I had $8 in my paypal account I was using for this.  Come to find out, even if you never purchase any paid apps, you MUST have $10 in the account.  Apple pings the card now for $10 to make sure it's a valid card and purchases can be made with it.  They used to ping it for $0.01 but I assume they raised it because people were downloading apps without the funds to pay for it.

I transferred money to the account and I was able to download again.

I can only assume that if you have a credit card you are using and you have- say- a $500 limit, but you are at $497... your card will not work.  I noticed this is a VERY common thing around the holidays, when everyone has their cards pretty well maxed out, lol.

    Hope this helps everyone!
