Since you have the devices set as favorites, you might also try resetting the PRAM and SMC (may not help, but cannot hurt).

Barry, zapping the pram seemed to help some, but I actually fixed the problem by tightening the battery cap. It was only loose an eighth of a turn maybe less but that took care of it.

All of a sudden today my bluetooth keeps crapping out as well! Very frustrating!
I did just swap out the HD Drive in my Macbook Pro for a SSD drive. So while that is a major change, I don't think that shold affect my bluetooth antenna. It seems that raondomly all my bluetooth devices lose their connection and the bluetooth icon in the top finder bar has a broken line through it. When I ccik on the icon it says "Bluetooth not available."
The only way I have gotten it to work again is rebooting my computer. (I also reset the PRam and the SMC during this process) but it seems to keep happening. Really disruptive with my workflow since I use a wireless magic mouse and wireless headphones.
Any other thoughts?

I also had the problem with the bluetooth keyboard randomly disconnecting and reconnecting, which made entering corrections while editing long documents very difficult.
I made the keyboard a favorite in the bluetooth control panel and I also zapped the pram. Neither of these solved the problem.
The battery cap was already as tight at it could go. However placing a small square of tinfoil between the battery and the battery cap has solved the problem.
