I'm glad to see that this has worked so well for you.

If you can answer this question I have, I'd be very happy. Clearly, since you're running 5.1 beta 2 you're either a developer or you're jailbroken. I'm going to go on the hunch that you might be on a developer account and if so, I'm wondering whether you have to be the paid (99.99/yr) developer, or if you can use the free developer account to run the beta software?

Thanks in advance if you can answer that.

    Thank you,

My iphone's UDID (Unique Device Identifier) has been registered to a developer's account who had paid $99 for IOS developer program. As far as I know, you can not have the "IOS beta" working unless your UDID has been saved onto a slot.

By the way I am not telling everyone to follow the same route. I have tried & glad that it worked & sharing this information with people. Although, this doesn't change my opinion about Apple, I still think that they might have sold hundreds of thousands of "phones" those can not establish a call properly. This is something more than bad luck...

Already at regent street genius bar. They replaced my iPhone again after short hidden work. The new one seems to have also the last week production time, the same intencivity of vibration but absolutely no noise or sound. The screen is neutrally white but the rest of things can't check until restoring completes.

Really hope that it's my last replacement.

    1. Camera blind

    2. Camera good, no audio

    3. Camera good, audio exists, vibration noises.

    4. Vibration silent. Other things let,s see.

Any way - apple replace units fast and without any questions.. Although the product with bugs, the service is great. Who buy something in Russia, can understand me.

I recently picked up four 4S for a work account, all locked on Telus. One of the four has this problem very consistently...

I can't see it being a network problem myself either. I can't see how turning the speaker phone on and off would normally need to trigger additional link setup with the network and suddenly the network link works. I think it's just either poor tolerance handling in manufacturing or design. Electronic hardware and software manages 0s and 1s, but the reality of it is that there is a transition time between states and if the hardware does this poorly, or the software doesn't account for it properly, you get ghosts in the machine that can be very hard to track down.

The question to whom who got a replacement phone. I got from black box, and genius told me that it's new. It looks like completely new. But I was wondered that time one was set to Coppertino (the motherland of iPhone). The first my replaced iPhone has initially uk timezone.

But the most wonder is that after restore from iCloud, the total gsm talking time at statistic is not 0 but seems to restored from old iPhone. Is it possible? Please check yours!

The first my replacement was week 51 of production. But the second is elder - the week 49.

I have used Blackberry for years. Decided to take the plunge and buy an iphone 4S. Had intermittant outgoing audio problems everyone else is experiencing. Went to AT&T store who claimed "You are the first to report this problem."

I subsequently went home and surfed the Net printing out every article on the topic I could find, including Facebook page and iCnn posts. Brought it to AT&T, and their response was "well that is just the internet, anyone can write anything."

Neveretheless they allowed me to return the phone and waived the restocking fee.

Apple executives: you are making a big mistake by keeping "mute" on this topic. You are tarnishing your brand and reputation.

    Now considering Droid.

When I called Apple to report this problem, I had the exact same result, Mark. He told me that "Well that is just the internet, anyone can write anything." I was like, "Why would there be over 100 pages of people complaining if there isn't a problem?

I called back the next day because after restoring my phone, I lost some ringtones and was helped through the process of getting those back (and I had no problem with that) and since I was on the phone I told the guy about the issue and he said he was aware of it, that Apple is also aware of it, but they don't know whether it is software or hardware related.

I figure I'll just hold onto the phone for now. I really like the phone and hitting speaker isn't too difficult, just kind of silly. I have a strong feeling this is software-related and I'm going to be patient and wait for the next iOS update to push through. He said I have an entire year from purchase date to return, so we'll see how it goes from here.

I'm just disappointed that there have been all these annoying issues with these phones. I adore my iPad which is why I switched from my crap Droid to this. But I figure, I run the gambit of other issues (yellow screen, vibration noise, battery drainage and some other stuff) if I choose to return it now.

Incredible, more than 2 months later, more than 1500 posts on this thread and ~150K views, no software update to fix this problem, no acknowledgement from Apple and no coverage from the mainstream media.

I am facing the same issues. iphone 4s 16G on Celcom network, Malaysia. Bought my iphone one week ago and problems started since day 1.Have tried the 3 R 's i.e. Resetting to factory settings, resetting network settings and restoring as new using ios 5.01 build A9406 but the problems still persists. Was using iphone 4 previoulsy and had no such problems. Hopefully Apple is doing something about it soon.

A friend of mine told me that there was a similar issue with iPhone 4 users back at launch on AT&T. He said that they used to folder a tiny piece of paper into a square and apparently shove it into the sim card slot. That there was an issue with connection and that it made it a tighter connection.

I have no idea if anyone here is willing to try that, but he said it worked back then. Not sure I'm even willing to try it since I don't rightly want to take my case off lol.

But, that there is another suggestion.

Not if this will help, but I wrote an email to FOX Business News today regarding not only this on going issue, but the STATIC and No Service issues with the iPhone 4S.  I ended by saying to them, that the Tech online websites have not responded to our complaints thinking that maybe, they were being paid off or something.  Not sure.  For me, I will not buy this phone until these issues are addressed by Apple.  Not holding my breath

I'm joining "the club" myself.  I am now on my third iPhone 4s (Factory Unlocked, 16GB, White).  All three of them suffered from the same issue.  I've tried factory resets, setting up as a "new phone," etc. all to no avail.  My wife's iPhone 4s works fine (bought at the same time as my first one).  She has no problems whatsoever (not even one instance of the "no audio during call" issue).

I intentionally looked for variations in the serial numebrs for this third phone (the first two had serial numbers beginning with "C39GRE. . .").  My newest one does not have such a serial number but still suffers from the same problem.  Certainly, Apple is well aware of this situation.  That it is not known to Apple simply cannot be true at this point.  I've tried three different sim cards in each phone (with different carriers) and I always get the same result.

I'm not posting on this form to get suggestions, I'm merely posting to say I'm one of the many.  I do not, however, think it is hardware related (although I could be wrong).  If it is hardware related on such a large scale (three consecutive phones for myself) what does that say about Apple's Quality Control?  It says it is, virtually, non-existant to me.

I have called Apple with each phone and was told each time that "they've never heard of the problem."  To make matters worse, I'm an attorney and I depend on my phone for my livlihood to a great extent.  The little "problem" has caused me many headaches in trying to communicate with clients while on the road.

What is the alternative, though?  Go to Android?  Keep returning phones until you find a "good" one?

Apple--if you are reading this, please just tell us SOMETHING!!
