Q: iTunes Store won't open.

So I click the iTunes store tab, and the loading bar gets about almost halfway through...then it stops.  Then the Apple logo appears where the loading bar was, as if iTunes was idle.  I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the iTunes programs, to no avail.  Is this happening to others?  Can it be fixed?

iPod nano, Windows Vista

I was having the same issue with iTunes store not opening up, since I downloaded the latest version of iTunes (10.5) and had exhausted all of the support options.  So, I tried this and it worked!!!  Thanks Jeremy 282!!!

Has anyone picked up a virus since running the Netsh winsock reset command?

for the people that this "fix" doesn't work or after rebooting their machine it's probably because your antivirus software is repairing itself and changing the settings back.

it's possible to run that command, and then load iTunes and access the Store, but it won't work again after you've rebooted.

Wow, same problem here, I was unable to buy my nephew some albums he wanted. I did re-start and check all my settings and Properties and finally gave up.  It wasn't worth it to try the more complicated suggestions on the front page!

BUT... I saw jeremy's "Run as Administrator" mentioned, and it opened up immediately ONLY using that! No prompts, no reboot. Start > Itunes run as administrator > Continue. The store popped right open! I can't believe the Apple team suggests such a complicated fix. Thanks!

Does anyone have any other suggestions to fix this problem? I only had this problem a few days ago when my hard drive crashed and I had to reinstall everything. I tried the "run as administrator" idea and it didn't work. I have windows xp.

have you tried ALL the above options?...................i would start page one, and work my way through them all. it could also be you anti virus stopping permissions, so you might also have to go to security and give itunes permissions

thanks everyone. seems like problem is fixed for now! I ended up un-installing ALL apple components than reinstalling iTunes, and its working now. I guess because I had been uninstalling than reinstalling ONLY iTunes, that that was problem?

Have to post to say jeremy282 solution worked for me too, after MONTHS of trying various solutions including contacting apple support.  I finally gave up and started buying music on amazon.  So glad to be back at the itunes store, it's much easier!

I have been having this same issue. Tried everything from uninstalling and re installing multipal times, firewall, security blocks, netsh winsock reset, flush dns and nothing worked. Finally found the answer... http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4123

Gives you a download that lists the programs on your computer that might be interfering with apples netsh winsock. Mine was Speedbit Video Accelerator. Did away with that and itunes store is loading fine now.

jeremy282 had the solution that worked for me.  I have been dealing with this problem for several months and no one knew how to fix it until I stumbled onto this fix.  Thanks.

This hasnt worked for me. Neither has anything else; you name it i've tried every possible suggestion for the past few weeks and nothing has helped me solve the problem. Itunes keeps saying "secure link to Itunes store failed" when I run the diagnostic test. It is not letting me update IOS 5 firmware. I hold shift while pressing restore and select the file. It extracts the file but when it tries to verify with Itunes store it shows error 3192 (which means updating latest version of Itunes) which i do have (version 10.5.3). I also have enabled Itunes in my firewall, disabled my firewall, disabled proxy, fixed my LAN settings, written nets etc in the command prompt, my internet connection is working perfectly fine; i've done EVERYTHING possible but it's still not working. Please someone tell me any other solution that may work other or help me solve this problem! It's so frustrating!
