Thank you again Leionie. A lot of files were not downloaded - working now - takes a lot of time....

This is most definitely the best kept secret Apple has going for musicians! They should definitely advertise it more, because I happened upon this thread when searching for more GB loops. I cannot wait to download all of the content tonight.

I have been looking for a cheap way to get the Jam Packs since they were being offered indivudally anymore (that I could find through Apple), this is the best news I have heard in a while. I almost want to give you a hug.

So this additional content of MS which is 18.8 GB all free /off charge?
We don't/won't have to pay additional money for that 18.8 GB? Is it for sure?
If so, it's so surprising... I've just purchased the downloadable version of MS from the Apple Store, but couldn't 'dare' to install that additional content. -Still waiting to be sure.
So, is it for sure?

Yes, you have paid for it by buying MS. I downloaded the additional content about a month ago - no additional charge so far. Do you see any "buy" button, when you are asked, if you want to download it? If not, then you are not buying anything.
I think the loops and additional instruments are loaded separately, because of the huge amount of data. You can download them in easy installments.

Thanks, leonieDF. Since I haven't seen any payment notifications such as [buy] buttons, I'm downloading the additional content at the very moment. It still feels a bit unreal, though, doesn't it!?
Anyway, thanks to Apple!

I spent a good portion of the weekend playing with the additional sounds with my MIDI guitar, and it's pretty astonishing the amount of stuff you get with this app. Good stuff!

Does anyone know what the second item on the list is, i.e. "Logic Pro and Mainstage Additional Content"? I know what the JamPack loops and instruments are but what's included with that second item?

Great value - it's not often that Apple give something away like this.
For me, the only problem lies in recording output from MainStage (I only have GarageBand, not Logic). The reason I want to do this is that not all of the patches are in a format that is usable in GarageBand.
Most of the Jam Pack loops use the aif. or .caf file extension and are available in Garageband, but there are a significant number that use a different file extension that can only be used by Logic. (For example the Suitcase electric piano.) I tried using SoundFlower to route the output of MainStage into GB, but got bad latency. If I could just play a MIDI file through MainStage everything would be perfect, but I can't work out how to do it.
I could just buy Logic, but apart from the expense, I'm told that there is a big learning curve progressing from GB to Logic, which puts me off.
Has anyone got any bright ideas about how to play a MIDI file through MainStage without using Logic?

Thank Goodness I found this thread! I have been working on music for the past 4-5 years on my G5 PPC which is obviously now obsolete (hence me having to buy a new computer, grr @Apple for that!), but when I tried to transfer the files to the new iMac with OSX Lion on it somehow all the jam packs I had got deleted, leaving huge holes in most of my songs! I have been pulling my hair out trying to come up with a solution to remedy this problem and I thought it was a lost cause. I was going to actually pay 150 dollars for the download of all the Jam Packs from a website, luckily before I did that I came across this! I am going to download Mainstage right away, I am so so so happy now! Just one question, I know when I imported my GB files from the G5 to the iMac it "converted" them to the new GB format or something, so I am just hoping that the loops included with this App will still be compatible.

Can you use ManiStage without purchasing Logic Pro 9? I already own all the jam packs. Are you SURE that all the 6 jam packs are included with MainStage? I spent $99 for each of JamPack I own... Will it work with logic 8?

yep..If you install MainStage, Logic Pro 8 will have access to all channel strip settings and exs sampled instruments.

Can someone confirm that all the loops in the following Jam Packs come with MainState?
Apple Garageband Jam pack 1: Expansion
Apple Garageband Jam Pack 2: Remix Tools
Apple Garageband Jam Pack 3: Rhythm Section
Apple Garageband Jam Pack 4: Symphony Orchestra
Apple Garageband Jam Pack 5: World Music
Apple Garageband Jam Pack 6: Voices

Yes. All Apple Loops, All Instruments.
#1 is not called Expansion, but just "Jam Pack".
All 6 products provide about more than 10,000 loops.

Hi, I recently ended up in a similar situation after transferring my files from a Macbook Air computer to a new Mac Mini. I redownloaded the "additional content" God knows how many times but am still getting those errors. Seems like the most problematic is the Symphonic Orchestra pack (Steinberg Piano in particular) and Remixed Tools. I have an impression that there is a stale configuration file somewhere that makes MainStage believe that the content is OK. Anyways, is there a way to uninstall everything and start from scratch. Any other ideas are absolutely welcome. Thanks, Vic
