Yes, this is the only way to charge the iPhone.

If it charges with the wall charger without having to shut it down and it does not with your computer this means that your computer cannot supply enough power to operate the phone through its USB port. You may have defective USB hardware, or you may have other devices that are using all of the power on the bus. If you are using a USB hub and not a direct connection to the computer this can also be a cause. If you are using a USB port on the front of a desktop or tower computer this can be a cause also, as front ports on many computers are an internal hub.
So try using a port directly on the back of the computer, disconnect all other USB devices except mouse and keyboard. You may also have success with a USB hub that has its own power supply. If none of these work you have a hardware problem with your computer.

No it's not like this, let me tell you what did happen. The iPhone will charge only when I plug it to the wall charger and then shut it down!!! This is the only way to charge it. Also it won't connect to the iTunes with no computer at all. The problem started whaen I tryed to charge it with my car charger. So please is there any way to fix it. Thanks a lot.

Then it is likely a hardware problem, possibly caused by the car charger you tried. Especially if you started the car while the phone was plugged in; starting sends a huge surge through the electrical system. You can try inspecting the connector on the bottom of the phone for dirt or damage, but if there isn't any you have had a hardware failure in the phone.

That is what happened to my phone too!!!... It stopped working after I charged it on the car!!!... will apple replace the phone ?

If you did not use an approved car charger you voided your warranty, as the charger probably damaged the phone. If it is in warranty Apple may still replace it, but the only way to find out is to take it to an Apple store.

If you are using your computer to charge it, the computer cannot supply enough power. If you are using the Apple wall charger there is something wrong with your phone's hardware.
